Title: Hawg Wired or Fosgate amp install
Post by: cobaltblueultra04 on June 23, 2018, 08:38:59 AM
Good morning all,

Has anyone installed a hawg wired amp or Fosgate amp in there 04, I know they are not plug and play so you have to work around the the ESS amp that is in the deck. If anyone has a schematic or has done this before I wuld be open for suggestions.

Thanks all

I did both.  The Rockford is really good.  Very easy install. Look for the other pairs of speaker wires that are in there and use those     unplug the right side plug. The rest is easy.  Follow the instructions. Get some good velcro and put it on your radio.  Run your 10 GA wire to the radio under the gas tank. I had some wire cundiit in the drawer. Not a tough job.  Stuart

Well part 1 is done, I went with the JL Audio MX280/4. It will run 2 channels bridged at 140 watts @ 4 ohms. The original deck does make a decent pre-amp to this one. It sounds very good through the ARC 602 speakers.

It has plenty of highs and mids but definitely needs some bass. Anyone try putting subs in the lower fareings.
