How fast will yours go? I got mine up to 110 ish over the weekend and it stopped. Wouldn't go any faster. Do you think they are limited how fast they will go. I was in 6th gear i waswondering if i went to 5th gear i could go faster. Seems like the bike is governed. What do you think?
-
that's all you'll get out of till you put an after market tune in it
-
Newer bikes are speed and rpm limited.

What years have this limiter? I've done 115 on mine and bought it used. Does that mean that I have an aftermarket tune?

Thats what I thought. My last bike I wouldn't even attempt to get it to 90. this one just feels solid so I felt comfortable trying it.
-
...couple of weeks ago I did get 215 km/h wich is ~133 mph in 6th. Was easy to reach out and not any kind of wobbly. 8)
-
I've seen 100 on mine but that's as fast as I wanted to go just to see if it would make it.
Saw 175 on my 'busa once and it was still pulling....needed new shorts afterwards... :nervous: ;D

Fastest I ever been on a sport bike before was 150. That was about 20years a go on a GXR 750. That bike was fun but I settled down a little bit.

Mine goes fast enough to get a speeding ticket.

And have you seen the price of one of those lately? Holy cow they are not $25 anymore..
-
Took mine down south last spring, and had it up to 205kph or 127mph heading from Arizona to SanDiego.
-
It's not just how fast can you go but how quickly can you get there.

Was that a SCRAD? Always wanted one of those. Standard white and blue.
-
gsxr was what i meant to write. yes white and blue. im not sure on scrad thing
-
did hit the rev limiter in 6th once,, 6400rpm, no wobble, with chain drive 7.5% higher gearing

Lol. Mine tooo. Sh t!
-
My old 2010 103
Mild cam, small bump in compression, lower gearing, decent exhaust system.
-
One more thing: this was off my gps, and the elevation is correct.
8)
Been faster on a friends bmw s1000rr, race prepped, chasing him on his desmosedici, nope, never caught up!
Had to stop to clean out shorts.

I have heard that the M8's are limited to 107mph, but that is what I heard. I have had my 2013 to 125mph a couple of times, but that is indicated and who knows what that really is.
-

This is the most accurate way of seeing how fast you are really going. I think there is a +/- of 3 KM's with a GPS. HD Speedo's can be off by 20 KM's sometimes more. The Harley speedo's are junk.
A buddy on his 2010 ultra with a 96 CI took a picture of his speedo showing 190 KM. The Zumo 660 GPS says MAX Speed 168 KM. My 2011 CVO SG speedo showed a top speed of 210 KM. My Zumo 665 GPS says MAX Speed 186 KM.
-
My speedo only goes to 120, but have hit that with the tach still climbing. Very rare for me to do that as it just doesn't feel real steady. But I also love smoking all of my friends. :)
-
I've hit a 100 when I was going North once thought that was pretty good as I was going up hill she still had a lot of pull left in her tho :huepfenlol2:

The M8 is speed limited to 107 mph, on all engine sizes, 107, 114 and 117. They are also RPM limited. The HD tuners will not remove this. TTS and others will.
The twin cam motors were not speed limited.
-
115 and it threw the front wheel weight off. :'( :'(

this is not true. i have a 19 cvo roadglide all stock i was able to go 115
-
the bike i traded in for my 19 cvo was a 16 cvo street glide with a built 124 motor. i was paced by a zx14 doing 150. i ran out of room on the highway (cars) but felt it was still pulling so once i got more room again i hammered down and got to 153. then the death wobble happened. handlebars were going side to side very violently until i got it down to 70ish and it stopped. all my friends behind me slowed down so they wouldnt run me over. never went that fast again on that harley nor do i think i will attempt that again. i seriously thought i was dead.
-
Generally i just ride the back roads, but checked radar and a pretty big trw was approaching from the west, so i hopped on 95 and took her up to 75 mph, the speed limit, turned on the cruise control and settled back and no one was around me for at least 300 yards so i stayed put and the bike wasn't even breathing hard, it seemed to like that speed, don't remember the rpm, but it could have stayed there until fuel burn out.
So i know it will do 75 all day.
Oh and beat the storm and didn't get wet, actually the bike has never been wet. :)

An how many MPH is your speedmeter low? All harleys I have owned at 80 mph are only doing 77 mph.
Seems that all the reputable tuners will tell you 107 mph for the M8. Saw it when my M8's were tuned. I also saw the speed governor removed
Cant say for sure on a 19, but I know for a fact on a 17 and a 18. I also understand European bikes do not have the governor.
-
107's are speed limited to 107mph. The 2017 CVO 114's are speed limited to 114. Clever huh?
I cannot speak to the 18 and 19 CVO' with the 117" though.
-
66,627 mph, plus 100-110 mph or so, depending upon one's perspective.

:)
Speed depends upon perspective, in relation to other objects:
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-fast-is-the-earth-mov/ (https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-fast-is-the-earth-mov/)
"the earth is moving about our sun in a very nearly circular orbit. It covers this route at a speed of nearly 30 kilometers per second, or about 67,000 miles per hour"

He's being humorous...the speed of the earth through space PLUS whatever speed his bike is going.... ;D

8) Sometimes seems faster, others times not so fast. Some days have no clue where we are, how we got there, or where we are going but we are making darn good time.

The big man upstairs was looking out for you! I went down at a very high rate of speed on an ultra for pretty much the same thing and it was a miracle that I survived and recovered to ride again!

But only if you are traveling west, if your traveling east your slowing down.... I have a headache after all that calculating
-
And I used to live on a road that was so curvy, one night I ran down my battery honking at my tail lights.
-
Fast enough to kill me.

Have used this for comparison purposes, since about 1975:
Q - What Is the Airspeed Velocity of an Unladen Swallow?
A - The average cruising airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 miles an hour.
It gets complicated if trying to compare European vs African swallows, is best to avoid that.

At least 118 mph all my M8 friends are way back there. LOL

Are you sure east is slower? I'm thinking it should be faster going east.

Did 100mph on my 71 Norton Commando Fastback when I looked at the speedometer and realized it suddenly struck me "what the f... am I doing?"
-
All depends if the bike is running and not broken down...
