Title: MPG?
Post by: Doc on January 21, 2004, 09:05:53 AM
Good Day, and let me first say that I joined yesterday and ended up spending most of the day reading...lots of good info!  A couple things that I did not see tho, and I have been curious about.  Gas Mileage?  How is it?
I was getting 45-50 mpg highway on my punched out Road King, and was hoping to get that or close on the CSE.  By the way, mine is sitting in the dealer waiting for accessories before delivery.  It was beautiful when I first saw it.  Thanks for any help with the MPG.

Welcome to the board Doc.

Not sure about the mileage.....mine gets here Feb. 27th. (but whoose counting?)

In my Harley truck I get about 11 miles to the gallon so I'll be happy with whatever on my bike.  I never really checked out the mpg on any of my bikes.

C [smiley=6.gif]ruising at 60 mph---im getting about 45 mpg. Get over the 70 mph mark---and i really doubt 40.  But keep in mind----i took that piece of a windshield off and put on a full tint windshield.  Theres bugs here in Missouri bigger than some birds.

Just came back from AZ Bike Week (about 900 miles) and averaged about 34-36 mpg. That was at 80-85 with a strong headwind. Was having trouble getting over 150 miles on a tank at one point. I get close to 40 if I keep between 70 and 60....theoretically speaking of course.  [smiley=confused5.gif]

Well there is always a trade off for performance,  still better than 11mpg in the truck and I can use the car pool lane.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

04 SEEG-out of gas @ 175.4 miles.  No nasty comments please.  My wife is still laughing.  Not to bad though,  58 years old and first mistake I ever made.

You are a pioneer, thank you very much from all of us.  Should have told her you did it on purpose just to let us know.

I know my light comes on at around 144 miles so that gives me about 30 miles.

I'm still waiting to hear from the first person to get a speeding ticket.

hotlineguy, that would put your MPG at 35.0 if you have the standard 5.0 gallon tank or 33.7 if you have the optional JCZ 5.2 gallon tank (see voltmeter thread)![smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

I had to laugh when I read that.........but just yesterday I put 5.17Gal. in.  That doesn't concern me, I used to do the same thing in my Ultra Classic.  What concerns me is the mileage.  My light is coming on at about 129 miles.  I'm tempted to run out just so I know where it's at.

As for the speeding ticket......I'm not volunteering for that.  I got three in my Harley truck in the first year.  My insurance company sent me a letter telling me one more in the next eighteen months and I loose my "safe driver discount".  They didn't know who I was, when they gave it to me......think I'll keep it that way. Yeah JCZ did you get gas from the same station each time you got more than 5 gal. in there? Those computer pumps can be modified, there was a station here in jersey that got busted for doing that.

I can put more than 5 in mine.
When I fill it, I leave it leaning on the stand but I do keep putting gas in it until I see gas coming up to the little holes next to the pump hole.

Almost sounds kinky, don't it?

I was gonna say, I do the same thing, fill it till I see it, and the manual said the light on the dash comes on when you have a gallon or so left. Filled mine for the first time the other night, right after the light came on and I put in 4.7. I am sure I will run out some time. I have done it several times, that's life.

On my Dyna if I put too much in, it just pours out the overflow system (puts a puddle in front of my rear tire) so am I to guess that these fuel injected scoots don't have the same system?
