Wanted to convert my FLSTFSE to extended reach forward controls so I ordered through Chicago HD. Three weeks later they tell me the part is obsolete so I googled the part and searched
Ebay with no luck. Part number is 49171-04.
Any help in locating this part or other options would be much appreciated.

His email address isn't listed with his profile so could not send him the info directly. Will keep finger crossed that he sees it in time to do him some good.

Twolane & Aussie - You guys are great help! I just purchased the controls on Ebay. Thanks again for the heads up!

They show it but canceled my order when I called to check the status and said the part was discontinued. They obviously haven't yet updated their database.
Thanks for all your help.

Peddler,
To be honest I cant even remember what they are for. When I looked at some old invoices they were on the same one as the forward controls so they mst be needed & yes only 1 of each.

Yeah I saw that too, once again it has been a while since I fitted it but I do not recall it being a problem. It is clearly shown fitted in the 2 pictures I posted above. It may have taken a very small mod to fit but if you can fit the extended reach controls I have no doubt you can also fit the chrome cover. I have purchased many parts that say they are not compatible & I always manage to fit them with ease. The biggest gamble I took was the 2007 SERK speedo/tacho which also said it was not compatible but I found it was as easy as plug it in & every thing worked fine.

Did a little research and looks like those are the fasteners needed for the brake lever mounting.

That would have been my guess!
At 6'4" you would really enjoy the Highway peg set up. It does mean you will need a total of 3 sets of the AILERON FOOTPEGS all up if you have the pillion pegs as well.
Cheers
Aussie

Agreed. Already have the pillion pegs and have another set mounted on my engine guard which will be removed because the engine guard is also going to be removed. (required for the extended reach forward controls). That means I need one more set for the highway pegs. A little at a time.....

I just received my extended reach kit today. Question: Since you used the 3/4" spacers I assume the fastener package sent with the bike needs 3/4" longer bolts for the right side, correct?
Peddler
-
Thats right & you should be able to pick 3 of these longer bolts up at your local nut & bolt supplier

Getting a little frustrating - got the extended reach forward control kit and brake lever, now the shift lever, part number 34616-02 cannot be found. Chicago Harley doesn't have it. I then won a bid on ebay only to be informed they couldn't find it and then saw one on surdyke harley and again was notified it was no longer available. If any HD employees are out there and can search this part number at any dealership I would appreciate it. Any/all other options will be well received.

Lookin real good peddler, I assume it is comfortable too. Did the spacers work out OK on the RHS. When I did mine I hated the shift rod they supplied so I did this!

Yea, the spacers worked out fine. Got 3/4" chrome ones and extended chrome bolts at the local Ace hardware store. I actually have the screamin' eagle linkage but now it is too short. Did you order yours three inches extended?
Anybody out there want to buy my old screamin' eagle linkage - I'm going to post it in the "for sale" area. First $150.00 gets it - perfect condition.

Pedddler,
The actual length of the linkage is 13 inches & the rod ends I have reused from the factory fitted buckshot linkage are 1.5 inches long each giving an overall length of 16 inches from centre of bolt to centre of bolt.

I have been searching for the last few years and now i see i can use 49171-04 part number, but ive run into the same problem. NO ONE HAS THEM!!! do any of you have any suggestions? If i were to mount with 3" extension would my fender hit?

If you cant get the HD controls you can use the Kuryakyn ones, I have them on my bike, I am 6ft 2 and there are one of the best things I have ever done. I dont think I could of ridden my bike anymore since my accident without the forward controls. I got mine on Ebay last year brand new in the Kuryakyn box for $200.00, then I found a used set of the Aileron pegs for 75.00, the brake lever I got brand new off of ebay for 50.00, all and all my conversion was cheap. They look just as good as the Harley units.
