Hi
I hope you know the pads Im speaking of. They are on the top of the engine guard and are in place of the more common highway pegs.
Anyway, has anyone taken these off? Can they just be pulled off? How are they attached --glue? Was their any damage to the engine guard after removal?

You're referring to the rubber foot pads on the mustache crash bar?
I removed the mustache bar and it's available if anybody's looking for one. I haven't removed the rubber pads but I'm thinking there's probably holes drilled into the crash bar and the rubber foot pads have the extended tips that press down into those holes to secure it. I can't imagine it would be glue alone that would hold them. On a typical Calif. summer afternoon (110F-115F) they would come right off.

Yes, those are the pads. Im having true pegs mounted on mine and would prefer to remove the pads.

I have seen some with these pads left in place AND a set of additional highway pegs... Gives them 2 locations to rest their feet on long rides.
I would seriously think about the removal prior to pulling them off. Most likely they are a 1-time use item, and if you don't want holes showing in the top of your guard, you'll have to go out and buy a new set to replace the damaged ones.
If you really don't want 2 locations and are wanting the typical highway pegs, you can always do what many have done and put on the regular engine guard.
Just a thought.

Eventually, when they come out with the foot pegs to match the collection, I'm going to put a set of highway pegs on my moustache bar. I see no reason to take the black pads off...they would great to stretch your legs out and rest on them...at least for my long-a$$ legs they do...:)

I bought a pair of the rear passenger pegs and am having them mounted as highway pegs.

Eventually, when they come out with the foot pegs to match the collection, I'm going to put a set of highway pegs on my moustache bar. I see no reason to take the black pads off...they would great to stretch your legs out and rest on them...at least for my long-a$$ legs they do...:)

I'm 6'4" I tried putting my feet up on the mustache bars and it felt like my knees were up around my ears......a very uncomfortable position. Even if I hadn't gone with leg fairings, the crash bar still had to go.
By the way, Daleleo, what color did you end up with?

I'm 6'4" also, I can't put my feet on the pads, but I can stretch my legs out and rest them on the pads and that gives a nice break for the legs and allows me to stretch them out every now and then...

They're definately designed for the vertically challenged, huh.

I added Rumble passenger Chrome footboards and will Re Deploy the foot pegs forward using this bracket
Adjustable Highway Peg Mounting Kit- Short Angled 50830-07
Also the rubber foot strips on the Mustache are removable as there is little if any adhesive we have had several just fall off of bikes in the shop!
Personally removing the mustache bar and moved to a more traditional bar and eventually color matched lowers

I'm still waiting for a growth spurt so I quit hemming my pants years ago. Still waiting but patient. I notice all the tall folks ride the lowered bikes :huepfenlol2: Sorry just envious.

I got the Spiced Rum. To me it's brown and I really liked it. The TS was too Orange for my taste and while I liked the Concord, I just felt that there are a lot of chromed out blue street glides running around and I wanted something a bit different. It's currently in the shop having various parts added inlcuding...

I've ridden an SG set up similiarly... would really like to see the pic when you've done this as I know that the bars should change for me, just not sure which way to go..

Rooster, I have a set of these mustache bars that'll fit your bike and you just fine. But I swear I was thinking about you when I typed that. :huepfenlol2:
