Hi From Argentina
« on: July 18, 2015, 01:06:52 PM »

Hi Guys,

I'm Juan, from Argentina. I built these scoot from ground up mixing some parts that I had. The frame is an early Shovel FL Swingarm and the drivetrain is a 1988 FXRS, with tappered shaft main 5 speed transmission.

There is a lot of info on these forum and I would like to know what do you guys recommend for upgrading the transmission. Its giving trouble with the clutch discs, going thru them super fast, so I figure maybe be the transmission shaft or case is slightly bended preventing them to run completely flat against each other. I did have some issues with the clutch basket too...

I would like to get a decent used one, but would love to get a splined main shaft. Is there an issue with the stock 1988 primary if I want to fit a later model transmission?

Anything else I should worry about prior investing money in a trans?

Cheers!

Juan,
Since your post is regarding a technical issue of the drive train on your bike I moved it to the appropriate board... if you want to start another thread in the introduction board just introducing yourself feel free to do so.... good luck getting your issue resolved.
