D and D true duals
« on: May 09, 2007, 05:05:15 PM »

Anybody have any experience with the D and D true duals (called true duelies)?  I am considering them with the Thundermax tuner since the V&H true duals won't accommodate the wide band sensors of the TM.  I am told the Fat Cats are the best performers but I want true duals and not a ghost pipe.
thanks

I just installed the V&H Troodles and the TMAT.  The wideband sensor fits - it's pretty tight agains the breather plug on the transmission cover, but not impossibly so.  If I knew beforehand the position that it fits, I'd have removed a little metal from the top face of the bung - maybe 2mm - so that it would clear, but it fits all the same! :2vrolijk_21:

Warren, do you have the O2 bungs already installed in the V&H TD headers (07 headers)?  From everything I've read, the front bung works fine on them, but the rear has a small fitment problem, but certainly not anything that can't be easily overcome by a little tweaking of the bung or the Transmission cover.  If nothing else, pull the rear header, have a muffler shop cut the bung off, weld up the hole, then install another bung at a better angle.  Unless you are unhappy with the pipes, odds are that every pipe is going to require some modification to get the longer O2 sensors on the TMAX to clear, as the stock sensors on the 07's are shorter in length.  The D&D is what Zippers may use, but there are hundreds installed on V&H and RH pipes.  If you have pre 07 headers, pulling them off and having a couple of bungs welded in is a simple thing, IMO.

Terry, I am told that the sensor is simply in the wrong location to accurately read the conditions of the exhaust and make a good adjustment.  So it is not just a fitment issue.  Therefore I am going with Zipper's recomendation on the D and D's since the shop is replacing everything at no cost to me.

I briefly considered the fat cats (with ghost pipe) but concluded they are too massive looking for my iddy biddy SEEG, compared to your big bike! :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:

TD's look better, IMO, and I don't want no stinkin' falsie.

You just doing the headers and keeping the Ovals?

Just the headers.....I like the ovals.  Probably taking the bike to the shop tomorrow and leaving it all next week since I am going to be out of town.
But I need to confirm they will have it done by the time I get back.
thanks for your advice.
