Oh man, I can't believe you'd store such a great looking bike in the same room with a case of Corona.  That's like keeping a fine diamond next to donkey pee in a bottle!  [smiley=drink.gif]

Must be nice living in California, its 20 degrees here in Illinois 10 degrees tomarro and I dont have heat in my garage yet so it will be a while before I get the rest of the chrome on my bike.

Cannibus_Man, excellent choice of pipes (big shot staggered) [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]; mine have been sitting is a box for 2 months now just waiting for my bike to come in. The dealership is telling me that the bike will be here the first week of Jan.

Rainman, I am originally from the L-Ville area. Did you buy from dealer off I-65 or the new one out east?
I stopped at the L-Ville HD last year and was amazed at how high the prices were and when I went to buy a t-shirt,  instead of asking me if I needed anything else, the two girls at the counter were rudely telling me all sales were final, no returns, only store credit etc. Very poor attitude.
Good luck with new bike.

Know it's been mentioned already but that bike looks really nice.  Nice machine.  I'm also really looking forward to seeing one of the Fatboys in red.   Thinking they're going to be super sharp as well.  Hell, they're all nice.  Doesn't matter what color it is.

Thanks for the inquiry. The bags are designed for clearance with the
stockexhaust, and fit most aftermarket units also. Provided the Big Shots
are no higher on the bike you should be fine. Check this out;

I'm not sure you will clear the seat with these bags.  I went with the harley hard saddle leather over plastic 53061-00A.  I needed to order a kit to extend out the mounts to clear the hard pan stock seat.  These (Corbins) look like they would have the same problem I encountered.
Originally I was going to purchase Harley's hard fiberglass bag and have them paint the factory cobalt blue like on my bike.  I called the MFG and they said they will not paint the Cobalt Blue custom on the bags.  So I checked a local company that said the could match the color, which they said they could.  They wanted more for the painting then the 900 for the bags.

ya  2soaper   this  bike is kinda  diffferent  for  bags.  actually im still wondering  why the harley  catalog  says  that most of the  bags  dont  fit with the rear  axle covers also..
i   like the  looks of those  corbin  bags  tho,,,,hell if i did get em to fit right  with the stock seat  i  guess i would need to air brush  a simulated  ground metal   look on em ,,
keep the  same look across the  whole  side ,,,those  bags  have  a low rider  skirt type  look to em ,,  really   it  looks like its gunna  run up some$$  for the much needed  bags,,
i  gotta stay on track  tho and  get the pipes first

Thanks for the heads-up on the toppers website. I was going to approach this avenue when I finished with installing all the chrome upgrades.

Cannibus_Man do you  have an estimate of the diffence in piecing out the toppers induvidualy versus buying the kit? I was going to compare these two options with pricing out all the caps from Harley.

The only other concern I had was the toppers look a little different from the caps used on my flstfse, they do look good though. Thanks for the pics......

well, im  beggining to think that the kit  is  more affordable,  i  went the individual route,
and  couldn't get the toppers for the rocker boxes (which i think are included in the set)  so i bought the billet rocker box caps from HD @ 4.25 ea.,, x 8,,  the 1/4 in socket head caps were runnin .99 cents,, which  is the  majority of the bike,, i  have roughly 40+ of em on it now and  some room  for a few more i guess.  the other caps were runnin 1.49 to 1.89ea. the front motor mount kit (2pcs.) was 12 bucks,, the complete starter kit  was 150.00,, if i had a chance to do it again i think i would of bought the kit and pieced  in the rest,,, less  runnin back n  forth to the dealer,,,oh  also   i think i need to take all the toppers off again  and replace the zinc washers with  chrome washers..it would look much better     [smiley=1syellow1.gif]

good point  Reo, i  juz found out  bout the pressed washer,, when i put  the HD billet rocker box  caps on they covered completely ,,but actually very few of the hottoppers cover completely,,if the hd covers  go over the whole  bolt and washer then it  would be a better  job  cause to buy a bolt  and washer also would make up any savings..shoot it's hard to get this  right the first time  [smiley=furious.gif]  lol... i did go to my local hardware store and ask for  high grade  chrome hardware and he had it for a much more reasonable  price  but the washers are usless  with that pressed one on there,,
right now inm lookin at  cuttin em off and putting the  1/4 lchrome lock washer on or  juz takin em back and  shine it all together  (juz live  with the zinc lol)

Cannibus_Man/REO, I will most likely put the chrome bolts on the primary and then put the hot toppers over them and then just replace other single washers with chrome washers. I am going to try to keep the bike consistent with one product. Thanks again for blazing the trail

Thanks for all the imput Cannibus_Man/Rainman, I'm thinking I am going to get a list together once I get the rest of the chrome on my bike and go to my dealer on a 20% day and get the caps I need. I agree with you Rainman in trying to keep the bike looking consistant. I really don't think I have to change all the bolts if I use the HD caps I have used them before, let me know if you guy's find different results.

btw, Rainman I finally got the delux light bar and installed it yesterday taking off the road lamps the dealer installed and it fits perfectly, looking much better with the billet looking bracket.

Another point this thread has helped me out a lot providing much good information but why is it under pictures, we should be putting all this info under the Fat Boy disscussion (FLSTFSE Sreamin' Eagle Fat Boy)

Those chrome switch covers look great. I have had the normal manual for a while, but was able to pick up the FLSTFSE supplement about a week ago. I do have to say that I was a little disappointed in the supplement. I thought it would have more content, not what I was expecting but it is still nice to look at.

A buddy of mine had the same problem in reguards to the bags not fitting. What he did was when he went touring he put on the second seat and put on a sissy bar and the bags installed pretty good.

Was  wondering what the difference would be from your shot guns to the Reinharts.?

I have the stock pipes on mine with the baffles drilled out and i`m thinking maybe getting the rienharts.I just love the looks of them on rio`s bike!

oh  ya , Reo's bike is clean with those pipes . killer actually,  there are  so many different manufacturers of pipes it's  too hard to  choose from,,personally i'm goin to purchase the  V&H big shot  staggered pipes ,,i live in santa fe springs, CA  and im about 10 minutes from the vance and hines  motorcycle center. ive talked to them about the pipes and they said that  those pipes are the next best preformance pipes,, to the  2into 1pipes they have to offer, they are claiming to me aprox.11hp from those and slightly less for the big shot stggrd,(the dyno  results will tell)...now that harley has a performance chip to accomodate the  pipes for 149.00. i no longer need a power commander or  race tuner for this  set up .. to be honest with ya i really  don't know if this performance chip that harley has will accomodate different pipes or what ,, i know that my  dealer (laidlaws  HD) in baldwin park fully backs the V&H stuff,,hell they even sponsor the screamin' eagle race team,,,prolly in a few weeks i'll be ordering the V&H big shot staggered
from direct parts.com  the performance chip from  harley  and have em  put em on and run the dyno ,,,,,,,

nice cage ya have     isnt there a viper forums for that tho?

Cannibus_Man, on the picture you posted showing the lifter block covers, I noticed the crancase cover with the Screamin Eagle logo. Is this the cover that came on your bike or did you change it? My bike has a different cover.

Today i put a  billet led fuel gauge on  to match the fuel cap i had put on a couple of months ago  http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448767138&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374309040824&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374309040824&bmUID=1106459752244&bmLocale=en_US
I'd have to say it was relatively easy exept for the fact that you have to  get into  the speedometer plug [39] and disconnect  the yellow/white wire and replace it with a grey wire that connects to the new gauge,,, how many people out there are familliar with
packard  metri-pack electrical connectors? Wow! i had a helluva time getting that wire out of the socket, with the metal tang attached also. service manual says use a safety pin and stick it in the end of the plug and roll it around till ya here a snapping  noise,,,
says it will loosen ...plus it appears to me that the wire loads in from the front of the plug and locks ..the instruction that came with the gauge has ya either cutting the new grey wire or loading it in from the back of the plug. i ended up cutting and loading it in from the front of the plug, then soldered it & heatshrink..i was also wondering what that grey wire goes to on the speedometer,,they started using it in 2004 fuel injected bikes and up,,anyways if ya have a late edition service manual  be sure to check out those packard plugs ,,,,here is a pic of the tank w/gauge

Today I managed to put the  auxillary light set on , i couldn't get the new style lights
http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/gma_product.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524448767297&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302290051&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302290051&bmUID=1107139499935&bmLocale=en_US     they  told me they are on back order here, so i went with the  standard  halogen lamp , tommorow my  pipes should be here  via UPS ,, I'm really lookin forward to having  some sound on this beast (not to mention the HP)  plus i'm having a problem with getting a  ecm chip through harley ,, seems they have several available but none for the flstfse so it looks for now i'll juz go with the power commander

kewl yellowseduece,ya there is a bike night at the  "Starting Gate" in los alimitos..  across the street  from los alimitos horse race track, every Wednsday night, alot of peeps show up for it  and the raffle has got as high as 1600 bucks one week..as far as the hot toppers go i never seen em with the double sided tape   they juz wedge on the cap screw or  bolt ,,or what have you ..they say that they garrantee em not to fall off or free replacement, juz keep the reciepts  send in a few claims once in a while   lol, i guess i better  check to see if i still have em all on , plus a tip they say is to use some clear silicone RTV to help secure them if needed,, good luck  and i'll see yas at the starting gate   [smiley=laugh.gif]

today i put the V&H pipes on , i used the power commander along with em, i tried map# m805-198 from the site and it didnt work , tech assistance said to use it  as a starting point, i ended up using one from the user upload section  #m805-vj038,, i plan on taken er in for a dyno tune this weekend at LAIDLAWS they are a power commander tuning  center.. if you  have a power commander make sure you enable the accelerator pump utility tool thats a free d/l from the site,, i set mine at 90% sensitivity 15% fuel deliverey and 20% rotation, it made a big difference, it's set according to the riders habits , so im sure i'll be changing it from the standard setting.. Hi Spydglide,  I said Hi to Mr Waugh for you today and he said you have been too long away and for you to hurry back for a visit.  I agree with you;
[list bull-redcheck]
  • is there really too much chrome,
  • too much power,
  • too much speed,
  • too many cvo bikes,
  • too many people having fun
  • too much of a good thing?

What is Too Much, I ask? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

Mine is the Harley D cover for the touring models. Don't know what it is for the FLSTF's. Can't look it up because a buddy borrowed my Harley D parts catalogue to start paying his Harley tax on the new Heratige Softtail he just brought home. Got a 95 kit put in to keep up to me. Man this summer... when it comes... is going to be some awesome cruising. A FLHTSC2, a Heritage soft tail, a T Sport and a Road King.

I also made my bags easily removable  and  just have a acorn nut showing when the bags are removed, all i gotta do is use a 9/16 wrench and crack the 2 acorn nuts loose and they are off,,takes all but a minute

Cannibus
I noticed your pipes..
Does your home state have a max noise level?  New Hampshire has a limit of 106.  Any idea what yours are?
Thanks

Want to know what bags did you go with and what if anything did you have to do on the fender struts to use the bags. Just looking at mine you would think there would have to be some changes made or the turn signals moved to make a pair of saddlebags fit. Might want to add some latter, but want to be able to run without them when I choose.

Another option if you want larger bags is http://www.leatherworksinc.com/ great quality, heavier leather, several styles, sizes and shapes. You can attach them with ghost brackets or E-Z brackets so they will be removable.

Thanks a bunch, at least now I know there are several choices out there. Do the ghost brackets and E-Z brackets let you leave the nice fender strut and only change out the bolts or do you have to change the strut too. I have looked at their products but it doesn't give enough info on what all gets changed out.   [smiley=confused5.gif]  Sandy

I don't know about the E-Z Brackets, but the ghost brackets only put a different bolt in the strut.  The strut remains the same and stud on the bolt that takes the bracket itself is very discreet and almost unnoticable.  (I polished the slot on my wife's bike and it is very stylish)
