For those still thinking about a 2 into 1 pipe it may be useful to know about my 2nd failed Vance & Hines Pro Pipe failure. It went in the same place as last time in that the end cap "blew off" whilst riding. As last time the hole that takes the retaining screw was elongated from a circle to an oval and then the metal tore to the end of the pipe. Last time Wally's Cycle World said that V&H wouldn't warranty this so I had to buy a whole new muffler.
I did a search and notice that JCZ reported the same failure. You can see his comments below in red.
I am power hungry and weight shy enough to stick with 2:1 but I am going to switch the whole lot (headers & all) to a different manufacturer. Comments welcome advising two into one pipes. D&D seem a popular choice but I just wanna ride without fuss.

Installed the Vance & Hines Pro Pipe on my 04 SEEG after my accident a couple of years ago. I wasn't able to ride it for most of that year, due to healing from the injuries. Once I did start riding it......the screw holes in the end cap stripped out and I had to buy a new end cap and baffle assembly after only about 2,000 miles (already out of warranty).
A couple months ago I noticed that same particular rattle, telling me that the end cap is loose again. Upon closer inspection, I notice that there is a wedge shaped piece broke out of the megaphone part of the exhaust and that the screw hole on the inside is now elongated.
I contacted Vance & Hines and explained the situation. Several emails went back and forth and a detailed time line with receipt dates, milage in between, etc. was provided. Vance & Hines said "sorry, there's nothing that we can do.........it's out of warranty". I told them that the piece that broke out shouldn't break out if I owned (and rode) the bike for five years, let alone a year and a half.
Just thought I should share this experience that V&H does not stand behind their product in this kind of failure.
Now, I'm looking for the megaphone section of a V&H Pro Pipe. If I have to buy it new, I'll change out the whole exhaust system.
