Pic of New 05 SE Fatboy
« on: August 25, 2008, 08:30:03 AM »

Thought I'd try to post a pic of my new (used) bike...........

Pipes are next but can't decide which way to go to get a deeper, louder rumble, yet not lose too much performance from the Python 2 into 1's currently on the bike.

How would you describe the sound from the Pthon 2 into 1.  Couldn't you pull the baffle and tweak it some?

I thought the Python was too mellow at high speeds with the baffle.  Removed the baffle, a lot louder.  Sounds GREAT at idle, ok at mid and high range, plenty loud. Just doesn't have that V&H Longshot sound but I know there is a compromise with a 2 into 1.

I plan to get a power commander and map and see if that makes it sound any different.  If not, I may go to the Rinehart Staggered Duals.  What do you have on yours and how's the sound?

Mine has the Samson II, Rip Saws exhaust. They are basically 1-3/4" OD drag pipes with heat shields.  They sound and perform very good, but they are extremely loud. I ended up putting Khrome Werks HP drag pipe baffles in them, which are very minimal 9" long baffles. It dropped the sound level just a hair, so they are still pretty loud. There isn't much choice for baffles that will fit in my diameter pipes.

Nice looking bike.  Well, if the girls like the red SE, I'm all for it. Nothing wrong with a nice looking lady sitting behind me   :apple:

Buddy of mine put Rip Saws on his Fat Boy last week. He roared by me this weekend WWWOOOWWW!!!!!!! I thought my 2 n 1 Screamin' Eagle pipe was loud on my Fat Boy but not compared to those pipes. He didn't complain about losing anything performance wise. So far.... They look good and sound good. Plus they kick up the dust at a high RPM... HA

Ditch,
Mine are the very loud Rip Saws. Since then they have come out with a new model of Rip Saws, that have baffles.
As far as I know the previous owner had the Rip Saws installed and had power cones put in at the head end.
This setup runs fantastic. I don't think he had any re-tuning done. I can sense no loss of power in the low to mid range, where drag pipes are suppose to cause some performance. There is no deceleration pops either. My plugs read good, so I doubt if it is running lean.
I would rather have a bit quieter exhaust, but I hate to mess with the bike since it runs so well now.

They are the Thunder model, from Iron Bags. Made from very thick leather, so they hold there shape. They are almost equivalent to having hard bags. I've had them on for 2 years, excellent quality and no complaints.
