I've looked at them since they came out with some interest.  I see some dealers still have new ones on the floor that never sold, some in the Chicago area I believe.  I saw a few in Sturgis in '06 and looked them over pretty good and still thought they were interesting.  I think they're 1800cc so they should run quite well.

Good luck with hopeful reviews from the others here on the Rune...

Also on a side note, how do you get the lines in your post to be all offset like that?  I've tried to space them away from the left margin for a purpose on occasion and couldn't get them to move out to the right?

I'll be waiting with you to see what other have to say about the Rune.

It's basically a Goldwing motor on a frame with a seat.  Very low center of gravity and power to spare.

Hoist

A  Rune is a Honda Goldwing on a lot of steroids minus all the touring stuff of course. Honda did a very limited custom Rune a few years ago, If memory serves me, those things were selling upwards of $40K. I see some very sharp ones on the road now and then.

I know you gotta remember them,, just need to zap your memory a bit.

Here ya go:

To my knowledge the Rune is out of production for a while. Plus is the aluminum frame, similar to the Goldwing. Minus is the "in-your-face" look and that it is a Honda. Just my 2 cents.

Ride safely,

Naah. Not really. What might make you hardcore HD?

  • Knowing the model designations (FX..., FL..., XL..., etc.) of every bike kmade by Harley in the last 105 years...
  • Refusing to ride with anyone who's not also riding HD iron... (actually, maybe this one just make you an a$$hole...)
  • Decorating your bedroom with H-D logo'ed "stuff"... (Hmmm... maybe that's just bad taste...)
  • Having your kids tatooed with the bar and shield for their first birthday...
  • Your only cages are Harley-badged for F-series trucks... and you have every year model...
  • You own more than two Harley CVO bikes... (okay, that's most of you... sorry! couldn't resist...)
  • Investing your entire retirement fund in H-D stock...
  • Rising in the morning and turning towards Milwaukee to being you morning meditation/prayer...
  • You *only* wear black and orange because to wear any other color would be unthinkable...

I'm just sayin'...

Knowing the model designations (FX..., FL..., XL..., etc.) of every bike kmade by Harley in the last 105 years...yep could have a good stab at that
Refusing to ride with anyone who's not also riding HD iron... (actually, maybe this one just make you an a$$hole...) bikes r bikes but preferably hd
Decorating your bedroom with H-D logo'ed "stuff"... (Hmmm... maybe that's just bad taste...)inside of my wardrobe is well stuffed with H-D logo'ed "stuff"
Having your kids tatooed with the bar and shield for their first birthday...hmmm  missed that one, youngest is 12now
Your only cages are Harley-badged for F-series trucks... and you have every year model...black chevy astro has a hd hitch plug cover
You own more than two Harley CVO bikes... (okay, that's most of you... sorry! couldn't resist...)have 4 hd, but only 1cvo
Investing your entire retirement fund in H-D stock...now is that risky or a dead sert? invested in bikes not stock
Rising in the morning and turning towards Milwaukee to being you morning meditation/prayer...mecca or moco
You *only* wear black and orange because to wear any other color would be unthinkable...not far wrong there

I'm have a Rune . Great go fast bike for the freeway but if you get in the twisties slow WAYYYYYY down . The bike is very long and way to low to get crazy in the corners.

The Rune is a good looking bike. The main problem is that it has a 300# weight limit. Add saddlebags, and other goodies and with an average size guy and you are approaching close to the limit. With the aluminum frame, you will need to watch closely over time for any frame cracks.

Don't know the selling price, but there was one for sale in Andrews, NC at Cherokee County Cycles near Copperhead, Lodge.

I seem to remember it was a concept bike from 2001 show? and was produced 2003 and 2004
I thought it was discontinued 2004?
originally listed for $27,000.00?
can be had for a song now, new 2004 can be easily had for under $18,000.00
This is the bike Honda wished it had never built

Sales were dismal and stock lasted 4 years after production date ended

This is what I remembered

Or even longer.  This one is being marketed as a brand new '04 at the dealer with one mile on it.

Anyone who has seen the Lord of the Rings movies (or read the books) knows that a rune is a mystical or obscure character perhaps from an ancient Germanic alphabet.   How does that translate to a motorcycle?

Or even longer.  This one is being marketed as a brand new '04 at the dealer with one mile on it.

The Rune was pretty much a novelty item.  One of my neighbors owns one and I only ever saw it twice...but then he rotates his riding amongst a stable of about 30 bikes.  Come to think of it, I haven't seen him at all for a while...wonder if he moved.  It's definitely a funky looking ride.  It's kind of an off the shelf custom that screams "look at me, I'm different" and it catches your attention for a minute and then you forget about it.  It surely doesn't look like an everyday rider.

I have another neighbor that talked for weeks about the new Rune he found somewhere and he was pretty excited about getting it.  When he called me to come look at his new bike, he had a new Road King Classic sitting in his garage.  He came to his senses.

There are a lot of bikes in my neighborhood, but only one other Screamin' Eagle that I know of.  There are a bunch of Harleys and one Honda (of course he wants to buy a Harley).  I live in a development of about 170 townhomes and there are probably about 20 or so that own bikes.  Not an extremely high ratio, but not bad either.  At least if there is a little pipe noise, it's not automatically assumed that I am the villain.
