How do I get better reception for the XM??!!
« on: May 28, 2009, 07:58:00 PM »

Works great when I am on the open road and nothing in sight.
Minute some trees start showing up next to the road it goes in and out?
Have any experienced that and does anyone have a solution?

Have Siruis in my truck and it does just fine in all conditions, wish the
bike was the same!

Thanks for the Help!

A buddy of mine and I bought New 09 SEUC, Both had Shi--y reception on the XM. Hated to do it, but took off the front fairing and Moved the antenna to the top of the leather dash pad. Looks OK. Have not lost reception since moving the antenna's.

Thanks for the scoop.
Makes sense, since it is tucked in the fairing and covered pretty good.

Thanks,

When we moved them up, we used a small heated nail and melted a small slice into the main fairing (on the riders side of the windsheild) that allows the wires to pass through without crimping them. Then went to NAPA and got some 3M Double Sided Sticky tape to secure them. (We moved both the XM and GPS Antennas.)

I just recently activated my 3-month xm trial.  I too have noticed spotty reception problems.  I never had these on my '07 Ultra (or not near as bad).  Do you have any pictures of the mod you made?

Thanks,

Has anyone noticed reception getting worse? I've been using XM on my 08 and I swear that I loose signal far more often lately.

I put the XM antenna on top of the left speaker, where it works much better and it is still inside, where it is protected.

Mine is getting weaker too.  Had one spot that it would lose signal on the first road from my house when I first started using it, now that same road has 5 dead spots.

That's weird. I thought it was just me.

I recently activated mine, the reception is outstanding. The only time it gets spotty is when I'm under thick tree cover. And you can put the antenna on top of your head and it still won't help. My antenna is under the fairing..................................Fuzz :coolblue:

Wow neat idea.  I too have started to have a problem with reception
