XiED now available for 2009 Touring Models
« on: October 30, 2009, 07:45:23 PM »

Nightrider has released an Xied solution for our 2009 Touring bikes.  I must have hit their web site at the right time...I placed my order last night and have received confirmation of shipping.  I can't wait to get them installed...too bad I'm traveling most of next week.  Hopefully they'll arrive so I can install them next weekend.  I had xied's installed on my 2007 and it made a big difference in the engine temperature...once they are installed, I'll let you all know if they make a big difference on my 09. :cucumber:

Went to the website and answered my own question ... Different ... NE1 want to have the 2008 Version of Xied? Have a K&N filter to go that was once on a SEUC3.

Im sure he will get them to you fast, whistle on the effect they have on your 09, they worked very well on my near stock 07 SEUC, They aren't designed for hi output machines or pegging the rev limiter, but in my case, I probably run in closed loop 99.5 percent of the time im riding so they suited me very well.

Got back into town last night...waiting for me was the XiED's for my 09.  Plan to install tomorrow morning...looks like about 5 minutes of work.  Will report back to all after installation and ride.  Stay tuned.

Install was completed this afternoon.  I believe it took me about 15 minutes, of course the first 10 minutes was finding a wrench to undo the bolt for the new ground wire.  When completed, I took a 30 minute test ride.  Whatever the issues were with the previous XiED, they have been fixed with the ground wire for the 09's.  While it's still too early for me to quantify the extent, the engine does appear to be running cooler.  Temperature as measured by the dipstick thermometer was 220 after my 30 minute ride.  Ambient air temperature was about 60 degrees.  Normally when returning from a ride at this temperature, the engine would be in the low 230's.  As I get more miles in with the XiED, I'll keep track of engine temperatures and report back.

Got the opportunity to go back out on Sunday for a 50 mile ride so I'll try to answer your questions based on that ride.  Response at all rpms in all gears was good...no hesitation or lag.  Engine appeared to be smooth and while I can not say definitively about the power the engine seemed to have a little bit more pep.  My primary focus was in trying to cool down the engine temperatures and I can say that they have improved, temperature when I pulled in after my ride was 219.  Can't say that I have ever seen that temperature on this bike after a good ride.  Hope this answered your questions.

Was install easy? You mentioned finding the wrench to undo the bolt for the ground wire. Which bolt did you end up using?
I wonder if you need to take off the Xied unit if you are taking the bike in for service or if it will affect your warranty?
Thanks much

Jim...the bolt I used (as recommended in the installation instructions) was the bottom bolt on the heat shield which is just above the rear connector.  Install was literally 5 minutes.  I do plan to remove when I take in for service and replace when I get it back, no point in having a service tech ask in questions.

I really like the way he has installed a connector on the ground wire, makes removal much simpler, you can just tuck the ground wire out of sight.

Installed mine about two weeks ago. Bike seems to start easier, was smoother and cooled faster when I shut it down. Install took me about 40 minutes due to poor lighting. I also ran a ground on the front. Was easy because there is a cable hold down bracket attached to the front down tubes. Just made up the ground and plugged it into the xied ground lead.
If I had to do it again would probably take me 15 minutes.
Would like to see xied include a front ground ring terminal with the kit in case you wanted to run a front and rear grounddave29

Are any of you using the xi eds along with the full sac baffles or other slip ons? Just wondering about decell popping?  The reason I asked was that I have used them in the past and got the dreaded decell pop. Thanks Doc

Doc, I use the 1.75 full sac baffles and do not get any decell popping,  I do not use the engine for brakeing below third gear either so perhaps thats not a true test.

This is the mod I'm looking for.  :jalapeno: Something simple to address heat. Thanks dartman for the message and info.

The short answer is yes.  All late model stock HD's whether they are standard or CVO run lean.  This is an inexpensive solution to improve this lean condition.

WCR, I read a thread several days ago that the Adapter cables for the 2010 fl-xieds were in their final stages of production apparently not available for the 10,s just yet.

The hold up is Steve has not received the connectors yet. Waiting on the manufacturer to deliver them.
