Hi.
Many thanks for the update and for posting the new photos, very helpful.
When you had the bags mounted rigid, did you have to remove the axle covers?
I'm asking because Harley Customer Service says the bags won't fit with the axle covers in place.

Cheers, Leroy

On the subject of bags, has anyone fitted the genuine Harley detachable saddlebags to their FXDFSE.
Harley part number 90181-08A.

I'm interested because while I've seen a few pictures of these bags of Fat Bobs, I've not seen any on CVO's.
Harley reckons they won't fit on two counts, one is the axle covers, standard on CVO and the other is that CVO Fat Bobs have the Premium Profile Low Rear suspension kit.  But those shocks are also standard on non CVO FXDFs, so they shouldn't fit either.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers for now, Leroy.

Hi Tony
Thanks for posting the pic of your bike. Nice bike, same color as mine, maybe I'm biased  :).
Interesting to see you have the bags fitting fine with the axle covers and original shocks in place which Harley Australia said can't be done.
End story for me was that based on Harley's advice I didn't buy the bags, (I was after the distressed brown leather).
Good to know they fit so I called Harley who now informs me they are no longer available.
No matter, I'll keep traveling light.

Thanks again, regards, Leroy

LLeroy,
There a bracket added to the bag and a docking pin c\w an adjustable arm added behind the upper shock. You have to replace the stock CVO upper shock bolt with the supplied spacer, bracket arm and docking pin.
