Fullsac Muffler Cores - X pipe decision time
« on: March 08, 2012, 10:25:25 PM »

Wanting to get the Fullsac muffler cores for my 2012 CVO Ultra and was wondering what the difference is in sound between the 2'' and the 2-1/4" cores for those of you that have them, don't want really loud just a good deep sound, also should I leave packing in muffler or take it out, had Rush slipons on 08, they were o-k but not a good deep sound.
Also really like the Fuelmoto ss header pipe, but they are back ordered five weeks. your thoughts between Fuelmoto and Fullsac, I really hear good comments on both.
Thanks

Hard to beat the Fullsac pipe. I looked at the Fuelmoto, but decided on the Fullsac. I also ordered the 2" cores after asking the same question about deep sound. Went with a set of 4" Rinehart mufflers instead, to avoid beating up the OEM cans. I'm happy with the X-pipe--the welds, coating, and fit are top notch, and for the price, was a better choice for me.  Same goes for the build on the cores--solid, clean welds, and good quality metal.

I went with the Fulsac x pipe with 2" cores.  I sent the cans to them and they installed the cores for me. I didn't want to chop it up.  They did it right and sounds great.  Can enjoy the radio at any speed.  Their x pipe looks the best too.  I'd go that way again.  :2vrolijk_21:

I ha ve the Fullsac X pipe as well--good quality and fit. I originally went with the 2.25" cores and it was still a little tame for my taste so I went with a set of Rinehart 4" and I am very happy....

Power Duals and the Hi-Output slipons, (larger than any other muffler/core, 4.5"/3" for the last 13" of the slipon) seem to make a very deep sound. I would give the credit to the slipons as I think any of the X headers will work fine with them! I would guess there are others with these mufflers that might chime in here as well. Hope this helps!

The Fullsac X pipe is hard to beat, IMO.  I have the 2" cores, and they are plenty loud enough for me, while not being "tinny" at all.  I left the packing in.  Cruising at 75-80 they are not ear ringing loud like the older Rineharts were, but if you get on the throttle, they still bark a little.

But I'm not into "loud pipes" these days...been there, done that.  "Loud" is really subjective though.

I saw both as very similar. The FM has both size bungs for easier tuning. My primary reason was the FM header was available and there is a wait for the Fullsac header.

I special ordered the x pipe with the test ports.  Then I had to order the 18 mm plugs too. I waited for my pipe to arrive.   That Steve sure is a busy guy.  I dealt with Alice Cooper there.  She was great.

2 inch Fullsac sounds the best and I like the look of the stock pipes. Not to mention the great price...

I went with the 2" also.   I think this look is the best that I've seen on any bike.  That's mainly the reason I went with Fulsac.

Loud is fine............for about 20 miles!!
I went with 1-3/4 cores on my '09 96" and liked them so well, did the same on the '10 103. These bikes see coast to coast trips, and I rarely go over the flow of traffic and the sound was no problem all day long. Just sweet music.
My local bike has the 2" cores and is LOUD when I gas it. This is with true duals, so that is part of the issue. Also, as displacement and HP and RPM increases, so does the sound. This bike wears your ears out after about 300 mile days!
