Obtaining an Breakout??
« on: September 12, 2012, 08:03:56 PM »

I live in north central Illinois and have been calling all the dealers within about 150 mile radius.  Many different answers from many dealers.  I am looking for the red model Breakout and there have been a few that have the golds and the blacks coming in, but no reds.  I did find one dealer that told me he could make sure he got a red one during the "phase 3" ordering process, which means the bike would arrive in November.  I am just wondering if this is true, or the dealer is just trying to suck me in for a deposit.  Of course it would be refundable, but in the meantime if one came up somewhere else I would be out a deposit.  So what do you all think?  thanks in advance for any help.

My understanding is that the dealers have limited knowledge of exactly how many, or what color, of the 2013 bikes they will receive until later in the year.  Of course my dealer could be lying to me.....

Here in Australia we're being told various stories from November 2012 to February 2013

Now that's at $43K Australian , about $45150 USD at today's exchange rates !!

Oh, and there's a $5K deposit TODAY to get "on the wait list" with NO SPECIFIC guarantee of colour ( sorry "color" !)

After doing a tremendous amount of searching I am now finding a few dealers in Wisconsin who have them coming in late October/Novemeber- my wife however wants me to keep my 07 softail springer, so I don't know if I will be getting the Breakout now :-\

I have seen ALL this before in Australia

Some folks who have put "deposits" on CVO Breakouts will NOT complete the deal

When the Rocker was announced in Australia , for a while people were "selling" their place in the Queue

It was taking up to 14 months to get one...

Within 14 months Aussie dealers had them sitting on the floor, availability immediate.

It will happen again , you could put money on it.

CVO Springers here are on the 2nd hand market for 6 months + , must tell you something about the current market

JMO but wait 3 years and you will be able to buy used ones at $20k.
I think they are great looking bikes, just like I think the CVO springers are great looking.
But, my guess they will generally end up being low mileage
bikes that can be picked up in 3 years in great shape when they are traded because the owner
"A" doesn't ride them enough or "B" they want a touring bike so they trade for the
windshield and bag line-up.
Love to have one myself for a second bike.  They are cool lookin'.

I saw a red one up close on the factory tour in York a couple of weeks ago (no pictures allowed on the factory floor).  The Red is stunning.

I have spoken to 2 dealers that were at the release and both have said the red is their favorite so I'm happy now. It is hard ordering a bike and colour that you have never seen in the flesh.

Only put down $1k deposit for mine and also got to choose between Red or Black. I took the red!  8)

Also a mate only put down $1k for his CVO 110th Ultra as well. The $5k deposit must be WA dealer thing.

As for delivery date I've been told the same.

" Only paid $1k deposit for mine, plus I choose the colour I wanted. "

Yeah, that'd probably be right. Here in the west for 10+ years we had only one place to go, one of the Frasers outlets.

That led by default to " arrogance " on the part of the dealer 'coz where else were you gonna go ?

That's still why they're asking for a $5K deposit , that's the entrenched mindset.

Won't be $5K of my money they're holding for 3 or 4 months mate , no danger of that !!

Bretto , as a matter of local interest what was/ is the "ride-away" price in Rockhampton ?
