Yaffe Bagger Bars for Batwing fairing
« on: March 21, 2014, 07:28:02 PM »

Bare with me here. I am currently trying to put the 10" chrome yaffe monkey bars on my 2013 CVO Ultra. I've called brady at bagger nation and he said he has had reports that the bars have bolted up just fine concerning the hydraulic clutch. But he doesn't see how. Usually they special make the bars for the CVO's. But are currently running at least 14 weeks behind. I have no patience when it comes to adding bars to my bike. I have seen a few of you guys with cvo's with the yaffe bars on. Soooo my question is, has everyone had these bars special ordered or did the regular bars work on the hydraulic clutch side?

This has been talked about before. Supposedly there is a flat spot milled on the bars for clearance of the hydraulic clutch reservoir. I put a set on my 2011 SESG and never heard about the different bars for CVO's until after I was done my install. I went and looked at mine and there is know flat spot :nixweiss: don't know why it worked or why I did not have problems but they work fine!!??

Thanks for the reply. And yes, the flat spot is what they say the cvo needs. But I hear that some, like you, didnt need the special bars. I don't know. I hate to pay 400 and then not fit

If your planning to keep your heated grips let Joe at Vindikta know and he'll open up the left side a bit to accommodate. His bars are tapered in the grip area so no flat spots are necessary plus they are 1.5" diameter for easier wiring and a somewhat more balanced look.
As a data point, Yaffe gets most of the credit for the meat hook style bars but he wasn't the first to make or market them I believe it was a guy named "Handlebar Lou" from the SoCal area.

Well after all the research. I'm definitely going with Vindikta bars. Really like the 1.5 diameter look. Everything I have read has been positive concerning his bars. I'm kinda surprised I hadn't heard of these before. IMO they are a much better looking bar than Yaffe bars. And like you said, should be much easier to wire. And what really did it for me was he took time out of his weekend to email me back. So I will be giving him a call tomorrow and ordering my bars. I believe he said turn around time is 3 to 4 weeks. Not 14+ weeks like Yaffe bars.

Also did some research on BR custom bars. Really like his bars as well and all the options. But damn, its a bit pricey for me.

Anyone that has installed the vindikta 12" bagger bars. Will your factory cables work with a little rerouting? And can someone recommend a good place to buy extended cvo cables.

Thanks Reiner. I ended up going with 11" so I could use stock cables. Will probably wish I had stuck with 12" but anything is going to be better than stock bars. Thanks again

Hello Capt,
Those bars look great.  I'm going to look into them.  Just to clarify, were you able to use all stock cables with the 11" bar?  Also, did you keep your heated grips?

Thanks.

How did you get a 11" handlebar, on their site they're just selling 12" or more handlebars?
Also are you sure that with a 12" you couldn't make it with stock cables?

It looks like the clutch line is routed down low by the bars ,, not thru the fairing.  Looks a little different.  Still nice.

Mr john.....they will custom make any size you want. I thought the 12s would be to tall for me and the 10s just wasn't quite tall enough. But vindikta 11s are like yaffee 12 because they measure their bars differently

OK thanks and according to your experiment do you think stock cables/wires would fit with a 12"?

I honestly don't think so. It was all I could get on the 11s. But not trying the 12s im not really sure. But I do know that it seemed that the 11s were the limit. Dont think I would wanna stretch em another&*er inch. But call joe at vindikta and ask him. Im sure he's had a customer that has tried it. Super nice guy

No problem and good luck. You'll love the bars if you decide to go with em. I love the 1.5 diameter vs the 1.25.
