Denim paint
« on: March 13, 2019, 04:38:18 PM »

Just bought '19 RG Special with black denim matte paint. LOVE the look. HD gave me free bottle of quick shine, used it once, Eh, cleaned bike, but Eh. Friend told me about Rat Wax, bought botle on Amazon for $15. Wow, huge difference, Rat wax actually put a shine on the Matte finish somehow. Also, finger prints do not show up after application. Nor much experience with a matte finish bike, but can't recommend Rat Wax enough from my limited use.

Just so I'm understanding this correctly, you bought a paint with a satin finish only to be happy with buying wax to put a shine on it?

Not really, love satin finish, still needs wax to shed water spots, bugs, etc. You need to see difference in both product to understand. Maybe ill post pics

Oh trust me I get it. That is why I never fell into the trap of denim paint. As you can only really just wash it and keep it clean without losing that denims satin finish to a degree when you try to apply a wax.

I found this video rather informative when it came out.

To me denim paint looks good when it's factory fresh. I just prefer something that I can use traditional cleaning and maintenance regiments with. I've got a whole cabinet full of Adam's polishes stuff that works great on clear coat paint, just wouldn't dare try it on denim or satin

Not sure I understand buying a Matte Finish anything and then waxing it for shine. Lots of Matt finish cleaners out there, not counting the normal car wash soap and water. But Wax? I wear a Matt finish helmet that I clean regularly with soap & water and then finish with HD matt cleaner on a micro fiber cloth. But not wax.
