Post by: fred786 on March 20, 2018, 09:02:16 AM
Went to import a ride gpx file and found importing has been removed from the program.  What the !!??  Googled it and found other forms commenting on the same thing.

All the more reason to try MyRoute_app, you can use the free version and also seems a little easier the the ride planner.

I talked to one of there tech guys last month at Officer training and he said they are working on updating the ride planner. but he didn't tell me when they would be done or what exactly they were doing.

Ride Planner could be a lot better.  Removing the Import feature is not.  Would be good biz for HD to make a much improved Ride Planner, something that would work easily with the I-taint.

Ride Planner is no where near being ready for prime time. With the number of route planning tools available, it makes no sense (to me) for H-D - or any motorcycle manufacturer -  to develop a proprietary solution. They should simply partner with someone who has proven their muster, even if that means sharing routes with BMW and GoldWing riders. After all, aren’t we trying to encourage riding and growing motorcycle sales?

I was also told that the Harley Route Planner was coming out with a new version. I think the time frame was the next couple of months for the release. The new version was supposed to be more usually friendly.

Doubtful that MC companies would be willing to share GPS technology, even if $$$$ are involved.  They like proprietary stuff too much.  Will watch for the new improved Ride Planner.  Have used the old one with ok success sharing group ride routes, but it's a clunky beast.
