Title: 2018 FLHTKSE Anv Seat Quality Issues
Post by: FLHTCUSE8ski on May 18, 2018, 06:32:31 PM
So I pick up my gorgeous new CVO anniversary and the first thing I notice is the stitching on the seats.
Although the design is nice and the color stitching is great the seat looks horrible.
I reached out to Harley Davison Motor Company several times as well as the dealership.
They tell me there’s no defect in the seat and therefore it’s not a warranty issue.
Harley Davison Motor Company gives me the story about how long they’ve been around and they know what they’re doing.
My issue is that it’s not a defect it’s a quality issue.
I spent $48,000 not including the extended warranty for seven years and every day I look at this motorcycle it makes me sick to my stomach.
I look at the seating I can’t understand why the poor quality and workmanship is tolerated.

I called Harley Davidson motor company I got nothing but excuses, I even wrote a letter several times to the officers of Harley Davidson Motor Company and no one has replied.
I’m sure if I spent that kind of money on a car the manufacturer would stand by their product but not Harley Davidson.
Every five years time and time again I’ve purchased a new anniversary and this is how they treat me.
Oh by the way as a gift from Harley Davidson I received a $48 gift voucher, I guess they figure one dollar per thousand dollars spent is a token of gratitude from Harley Davidson Motor Company.

I purchased this motorcycle back at the end of January hoping to receive a nifty gift like every five years I used to get and now all of a sudden more disappointment.

But the main reason for this post is the poor quality of the seats.
By the way I’ve already had one paint defect warranty on the motorcycle and a second one when I go back to the dealer.

Is it that difficult for Harley Davidson to put out a product with quality control on a machine with no defects???
Harley Davidson Motor Compamy only made 1200 of these motorcycles, what the hell is going on. See attached pictures and you guys tell me if this type of quality should be satisfactory??

Yes, I agree you shouldn’t have to do this but, take it to a local upholstery shop. They can stretch it around the nose and over the back end and pull it tight and it shouldn’t be but a couple bucks.

Sometimes you just can’t fight city hall.

We (those of us that purchase their products) could only wish they would/did... but sorry to say that's not the case... we just get a "blank" canvas... and sometimes that canvas has "flaws" we the end user have to correct to make it "our" bike. :( >:( :sauer005:

Well our “canvas” should not be blank.
As of a matter of fact the seat is a special edition $1,500 heated seat that is supposed to be a work of art and I shouldn’t have to make it my “own”. Savy?

This is what the seat is supposed to look like.
The MOCO doesn’t stand by thier product!
This is the reason Harley Davidson Motor Company
Is loosing Business!!

This is a website with thousands of experienced CVO owners. As a newbie to the site it may seem to you that others haven't experienced issues/concerns with their new CVO. All of us have and now you are having issues also. Stay calm and take advantage of the experience, wisdom and knowledge of members like Fired00d and the others that have been through the disappointment of buying a premium product only to find it's not as premium as represented.

This website is so much better than the product we love. This is a place where people love to help those that share our passions.
Your bike, our bikes no matter how much we pay for them are not perfect. If that is your expectation I wish you luck in your journey seeking perfection with a not so perfect product.

Welcome to the site.

Thanks no need for lecturing.
It’s about a product not people.
Just because my profile says Newbie
doesn’t mean you’ve been around longer and know any better.
I’ve been on here fir 10+ years.
Talk about the issues not the people.
If you settle for less than that’s your business,
But Don’t expect others too.
Thanks

Why didn't you address this prior to purchase?

It was addressed the same day.
I got assurance from the salesman that the issue would be looked into.
Then the service manager and even Harley Davison refused to make things right.
I documented everything but they failed to make things right.
I was even willing to make a compromise but I was just shut down.

That was my first thought.  That's obvious.  Demonstratively so.  Eye catching distraction and asymmetry.  Enough to make a guy bitch at those he came to whine to.  So bad I'm surprised the engine even ran.

Seriously though, life would have been a lot simpler to flag at inspection at time of purchase.  Harley is a bitch about cosmetics after the fact.  The only time you've got leverage is when the dealer still wants your money.  Still can't believe the engine started...

So did or did not actually document the issue in the walk-around?  Or just took a sales-weenies word for it?  If someone is taking my close-to-$50k I'm not taking their word for chit.

Taking the word of a salesman is a very good way to get the shaft.  Next time I'd suggest getting a commitment from the dealer, in writing, that the problem will be corrected at no cost to you before you accept delivery.  Once you accept the bike, all the verbal assurances are less than useless.

Btw, the suggestion to have an upholstery shop tighten the cover was a very good one.  A good dealership would have done it with absolutely no argument at all.  Keep that in mind next time you want to buy something from a dealership.  The only way to fix a lousy dealership is to stop patronizing them.

So it looks like there say it’s not a warranty issue (even though it is) so the salesman said it would be taken care of, I think the dealership should handle it, I had trouble with the riders seat on my street glide, I bought it in Charlotte and live in Ohio, went to a couple of local dealers and got the same song and dance, so called the selling dealer, he wouldn’t do anything, harley wouldn’t do anything, finally threatened selling dealer with internet and forum ratings he sold me the seat at cost and I sold the original on EBay, it ended up costing me about $50.00 when it was all said and done, good luck with your fight!

I am not proud of the advice I am about to give (I was taught by my parents to always be honest) that said, sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. If an undetectable problem were to prevent the heated seat from working HD would have to replace it. Just saying…

My seat.

Thanks! My seat appears worse than yours.
I like the saddlebag speakers, I just upgraded to the boom stage 2 system.
