Title: Stage 3 on CVO 114 with standard muffler
Post by: Alex_McB on February 04, 2019, 09:47:02 AM
Hi all,
I’m thinking about a Stage 3 for my 2017 CVO Street Glide with 114 ci engine.
I watched a video on YouTube made by a Dyno professional who tested the different parts added to an M8 engine to see what could bring incremental values and when he installed third party mufflers in place of the original CVO ones HP or Torque data didn’t change.
At this point my question is: would it make sense to install a Stage 3 (with the SE tuner) and keep the original CVO mufflers and air intake?

Your bike is bound to be close to out of warranty, why use the choked down S/E tuner? I think the slip-on choice is a personal thing. Do you want another couple horsepower or do you want a quieter ride? At this stage in my life I like the quiet, although I do use the 1.75" Fullsac inserts with wraps, but my wife actually bought those for me as a gift because she thought the bike sounded like a Goldwing. I was OK with stock exhaust sound.

If your bike is out of warranty or close to out of warranty I would go after market rather then HD parts.

There are many cams out there that are much better then the HD emissions cams.

TTS and Power Vision are both much better tuners than the HD tuner.

It didn’t make any sense to keep the stock mufflers with a Stage 3.
This is what I did with my CVO Street Glide (114):
V&H Power Duals, SE Street Cannon Performance (4.5), SE Ventilator Extreme, SE 447 Cam with SE Pushrods and racing valve springs, Diag4 Tuner, Pro Dyno tuned.
Nothing “extreme” but still a lot of fun.
