Title: Shops w/in 150 mi. of Peoria, IL for 575 install?
Post by: 110tHunDer on July 10, 2006, 01:11:11 PM
Guys, let's hear your recommendations on shops to take my '04 SEEG to for the Zipper's 575 gear drive cam and various other asundry pieces (Feuling oil pump, Rineharts, that kind of stuff), plus a good SERT dyno tune within a 150 - 200 mile radius of Peoria, IL.

I had been strongly considering Bumpus in Memphis, but that's 450 miles, one-way.  They are still my backup, but would like to find something closer if I can.  I'm looking specifically for a Harley dealer who specializes in performance upgrades and will treat my bike as if it were their own.

Does anyone have some suggestions, hopefully based on your own experiences, for me to check out?  Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, how far is it to "TwoLane's Custom Cycles"? [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif] If you doing all the above items and you have the abilities to load a map I can get you one with the same mods you speaking of. ;D

Hmm, he's about 450 away, too, but I actually mentioned this briefly when he and I last talked.  I was mostly joking since his dyno guy is a PC guru, but I didn't think about using someone else's map, Gary.  But wait, you are using the stock TB, right?  I'm thinking I'll go with the Zipper's 50mm.

Hal's HD in New Berlin, WI (Milwaukee area) would be my first choice or Wild Fire HD in Villa Park, IL (west Chicago). Both specialize in performance mods.

Thanks, Big Time.  Have you got experience with either of those places?

Gary, would always be more than happy to give 103 a hand.  But some of his jobs are just beyond my skill level.  I mean, really, I just got no idea how to install that second radio in his motor  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  ;D .

(though I think you'd change radio stations with the shifter?)

Yep, still using the stock TB. If you decide not to go w/new TB let me know. BTW - Zippers 50MM TB is on my wish list so if/when I do get it I know where to get a new map. ;)

Sounds like there is more to this story? Inquiring minds want to know. :)

Brian can't be as dangerous as I am w/tools. I've been referred to as "Tim The Tool Guy". [smiley=nervous.gif]

At one point, I had planned to do the '06 radio upgrade that Don did and had discussed having him do it for me prior to CC.  One thing led to another and it never happened.  Still, he brings it up every time we talk and in every PM he sends me.  (Well, alright, not every PM, but it sounds better for the story, OK?)  "When are we gonna do the radio, Brian?," he asks me.  Time, after time, after time, the same old thing, "What about the radio?"  "When do you want to do that radio, Brian?"

Gary, I may need your help to re-program that PhD-type brain of his to fuggetabout the freakin' radio, otherwise, if he would be the one to do my cams, I might be shifting with my volume control afterward (and yes, changing radio stations with my shifter). [smiley=nixweiss.gif] :-/ [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

But dude, you JUST BOUGHT a spare radio  [smiley=nixweiss.gif]  ;D .

(you let me work on it and you'll have the first high compression dual spark plug  FM tuner in the state!!)

Ahhh, now I understand. In other words don't mention/ask him something you don't plan on carrying out. Thanks for the advice. [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif] [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]

Brian,
I think Harry has had experience with Hal's HD. He has talked about them to me before. I think it was positive experience.
