Title: What pipes/air cleaner did you use??
Post by: kobi04sed on July 19, 2006, 07:40:06 AM
I am interested in what you guys did for pipes/air filter and if you did any ecm modifier such as DFO or Powercommander. My bike is stock, I do have a set of 16 GA Harley pipes to install at some point. I don't plan on any radical modifications other than air/exhaust. Seems our bikes are unique and Powercommander does not have any downloads for ours. I am leaning to a DFO.
With our unique air cleaner cover, can a better breathing back plate/filter be used and retain the cover?? Just curious what you guys have done... Thanks, Kurt

I installed the SE air cleaner under the stock cover...back when they had REAL K&N filters...I then added SE II pipes ('03 version without a crossover) and had the dealer do the Stage II download.  I had some surging at low speed/rpm...such as when pulling in the garage.

After a while I added the V&H Big radius...and had some decel popping.

Finally, I added a Power Commander and had it dyno-tuned.

To me...the Big Radius pipes are PERFECT and the only ones that will ever be on my bike.

went from stock exhaust to 2 into i v/h pro with the competition baffles, stage one SE kit. the 2 into 1 was kewl looking, but i didn't like the sound after a while, more of a fast loping sound.
january of this year i installed the v/h shorties, slash cut, and it's the traditional harley sound now, and much much LOUDER! 8-)
