Title: Sad News
Post by: HUBBARD on September 20, 2006, 05:08:47 PM
Good Friend of mine was having some major MODS done to his 117 BIGDOG, in Kingsport, Tenn.  Technician called him last Friday, told him the MODS were completed, and he was going to test ride it.  Ran into the back of a Tractor-Trailer, and was killed instantly, Friday afternoon.  My Friend said he was running around 100 MPH, when the impact occurred.  They think he blacked out, or had a Heart attack or something, as he was a seasoned rider.  If I get more information, I will post, or, if anyone here has knowledge of this terrible accident, please post. :'( Later--HUBBARD

Carl,

Very sad to hear that someone died like that.  The only consolation is that you and your friend are still ok.

Very sad to hear.  My condolences.

Hopefully the Mods weren't the cause.  Brake or stuck throttle may be the cause?

Kingsport area wrecks kill three in 12 hours
Published 09/20/2006 By RAIN SMITH

The second fatal motorcycle wreck occurred about 3:08 p.m. on Industry Drive, within the city limits. The road was closed to traffic for hours as emergency and city maintenance responders cleared the scene. It was littered by dozens of crumpled pieces of metal that once made up the rider's custom chopper.

According to John McGee, Kingsport Police Department accident reconstructionist, the motorcyclist was traveling west on Industry Drive near Wilcox when he veered into oncoming traffic, killing him instantly. Based on skid marks and witness statements, police do not expect charges against the driver of an Air Gas flatbed truck that collided with the motorcyclist.

Kingsport police identified the motorcyclist as David Michael Wagner, 57, of Church Hill.

The truck driver, David E. Barrett, 36, of Kingsport, suffered minor injuries in the crash.
