Air Dams
« on: April 15, 2018, 06:25:04 PM »

Had bike in for replacement of the right speaker enclosure a few weeks ago.  This was to fix, for the second time, a spinning capture nut for the windscreen.  Thought that it needed a new inner fairing by the pictures in the parts manual; part person, person in Milwaukee, and I all were under this impression.  When the whole fairing was removed, it became obvious that the inner fairing was incorrect and the speaker enclosure was defective.  The old one should be on the way to Milwaukee to show them that the "chemical" fix (epoxy) does not work and need to being back a mechanical repair kit.  This is all background.  When the speaker enclosure was finally replaced, the air dams, those doors on either side of the fairing, were closed.  Opened them a few days later and then the temperature dropped and needed to close them.  Both appeared to be hung up on something.  Took back to dealership this weekend and the technician could get them to close and open but not every singe time.  New dams are now on order.  Have this happened to other folks or is there an alignment issue that no one, not even the technicians, know about?
