Brought home a new 2018 FLHTKSE
« on: April 22, 2018, 12:44:05 PM »

Yesterday, I traded my 2016 FLHTKSE in on a 2018 FLHTKSE 115th Anniversary Model.   So far I have been able to put 233 miles on it.  On my 2016, I had switched out the stock rear air shocks with 1" shorter progressive shocks and was able to sit flat footed while on the bike.  On the 2018, I am able to do this with the existing stock shocks.  Is this because of the redesigned seat or did Harley reduce the size of the rear shocks by 1 inch?  I never did like the garbage stock air shocks that Harley used, but these new shocks that they are using appear to be much improved.  I know the existing stock shocks are not as good as the aftermarket shocks.  I still have my progressive shocks that I was considering putting on the 2018, but I may not.

Thanks guys.  I am liking the bike.  Since it is raining outside, I'm not riding any though. So looking at some of the differences between the 2016 and 2018.  The upcoming week is suppose to be rain everyday until Friday.

I have the same model. #559!
I’ve always used progressive shocks in place of the factory air on my previous anniversary models. With the new air less shocks I’m waitong it out for a while before changing anything.
Plenty of adjustment on the new shocks.
My girlfriend notices the ride is much much different and better.
Question, did you receive a welcome or thank you kit from HD?
Every time I traded up my CVO I got one in the past but not this year, how about you?
Thanks Tom

The shocks on the 2018 FLHTKSE are the standard length shock, as opposed to the shocks on the lowered models such as the FLHXSE.  Both are newer production versions (introduced on the 2017 models) of the older hand adjustable shocks.  I'm not sure why you feel a difference in static height compared to the 2016 air shock bike, but it may have something to do with not only the changes to the seat but also how much preload you have dialed into those new shocks.  There should be a table in your owners manual with suggested preload settings based on your weight.  Set the preload to the recommended number of clicks and see if that changes your perception.

Jerry

Btw, Harley's own spec sheets show the same thing you're feeling.

Seat Height, Laden:

 2016 - 28.4"
 2018 - 27.7"

I didn't receive either welcome or thank you kit from Harley on either of the two cvo's that I have purchased.

So far I am finding the OEM shocks adequate in the 1400 miles that I have put on the bike.  Although I like the OEM Hammock seat, I did buy a Corbin seat for the 2018 which caused the seat height to rise a little bit.

I am enjoying the 2018 and if the weather would cooperate, I would have a lot more than 1400 miles on it.

Hi how are you.  I’m having a problem with my AC and the quality of the stitching and wrinkling does yours look like whatever attached? Thanks.

Does it come from the factory with the highway pegs? I just picked up the sunglo and mine didn’t have the highway pegs. Dealer is saying they didn’t come with them. I’m confused. All the pics I see have the highway pegs.

Go to the source.  Harley's website.  Shows with pegs.

Someone at your dealer needed a set of pegs for their bike.
