Tour Pak transition
« on: June 13, 2018, 02:18:15 PM »

When I traded my 2011 SESG in for my new 2018 SERG I kept my tour pak. The Black Diamond color is fairly close for as seldom as I use it. So at least for now with the other (necessary) upgrades I've done, and plan to do, it makes $en$e to utilize the one that I have. With that said, there is a clearance issue for the saddlebag lids on the new Rushmore bikes to be able use the non Rushmore Tour Paks. My fix for the problem was to use the black shiny rubberised material from a big rig mudflap found at any truckstop. I happened to have a pair that I bought new to use on top of my work bench at home. The attachment end of the mudflap in this case is about 2' across and about 2" wide at the top so I cut that piece off and then cut it in half lengthwise to give me 2)  12" x 2" x 5/16ish" spacers. These placed between the tour pak and quick release rack (front to back) make for a good solid mount and  vibration isolators and most importantly give the spacing for the lids that is needed.

I know dood, I didn't take any pics during the process.  :nixweiss: That's why I gave such a lengthy explanation. In my case the TP is black and the bracket is black so you really can't see anything nor do i think you would see much of anything on the chrome with light colored paint versions either unless you looked up underneath. It's pretty stealthy, cheap and a very easy transition. Works fantastic!

This is what I started with and I cut about the top 2" off for this project and the rest went back on my work bench.
