Pistons for a 103 stroker CVO
« on: September 08, 2018, 01:13:22 AM »

Does anyone have a good supplier for a set of 10.5:1 pistons for a 2006 stroker CVO Softail motor? Maybe a supplier that will sell to people that live in the blue state of California? I'm having a hell of a time putting parts together for this build.  And better, do you know of a place where I can push that to a 3.937" Bore 10.5:1 set of pistons?? Many thanks in advance!

Those I'd have made to spec....I don't go over 3.915 bore
In any compression ratio

It has a Bore of 3.875" and a 4.375" Stroke. Im not sure if this is the same as the newer 103 motors or not. It is a 2006 CVO Screamin Eagle.

The pistons for an early CVO SE 103, are completely different than the later 07' and up 103" engines. The earlier CVO SE 103" engines had hemi style heads, and larger valves. The later 103" flat top pistons won't work either, because of the valve pockets, and wrist pin bosses.
What cams are you planning on using ?

You can buy the pistons from Arias / CP. I bore and torque plate hone. They are the OEM supplied to Harley back in the day for the cvo 103, and again Sachs hits the nail on the head

Thanks for the replies guys. I  am going with a Woods TW-5G cams. It's a big heavy beast of a chopper and I don't need a lot of top end on this bike.

Question please. Would the 3.937 piston need to be domed, in order to get to 10:1 compression, using the original CVO script heads (approx 95cc chamber)? If so. How much dome would be required? i have been kicking around this 103 to 107 move for awhile. Thank you!

Need to know what cam you have in mind to answer your question. I did a 106 several months ago for a member of this forum with the CVO hemi heads, and flat top pistons. Made 122 h.p. Dyno sheet is on this forum.

To match the chamber at 107" would take a custom dome to get the thing working right or a flat top and milling to give the hemi chamber s perimeter squish area

Allot of guys I've been working with are opting for the 110 kit and the more traditional "bath tub" head.
Find a set of silver -06 heads (plentiful), machine them for ACRs and Bob's ur uncle!

127-130 squared is pretty common using a 590 Tman cam set or something similar and a decent pipe. Don't
be afraid to ditch the 103 CVO heads! Finding pistons for them is a pain in the butt. Get rid of them and piston
choice becomes a non issue.

HD Street Performance. Would the Arias piston at 3.937 work? Description reads for HTTC / CVO HEADS 99-06.
https://ariaspistons.com/products/twin-cam-88-1999-2006-103-ci-3-885-10-5-1  Is that a recessed dome piston? Thank you for the information!

Yes of course and that would be expensive, custom, require 4 made, or pay some more premiums.
