It's a saying: "I would rather to loan my wife than my bike because at least I know what is going to do with her"  :huepfenjump3:

It's a joke....Any of my bikes are ready here to be ridden from any member of the CVO family  ;D....I trust in them  :-*

Folks just don't ask and I don't offer. Only my adult son and a couple of mechanics have ridden them.

Went for a ride on the 2000 Ultra with a buddy and he rode a dyna I had at the time.  He ended up buying the dyna and later I sold him an Ultra I had.

No one else has asked, I imagine it would be on a case by case basis, I have offered it here and would on a ride I was on, but otherwise most likely not.

Sounds like you know the answer to the question regarding the relative, if you were asking.  I imagine the outcome wouldn't be good, even if it was imagine how often he'd be asking if he actually got to ride it once.

Any of my close friends are welcome to borrow anything I own, including my bikes.  And visa versa.  But I have high standards for those I consider close friends...

Like when I had the incident at the cabin last month that prevented me from being able to ride by bike home.  Less then 12 hours from the time of the incident, a close friend had driven his car 300 miles, left it for me, and had ridden my bike 300 miles back home - and tucked it away safely in my garage.  And I didn't have to ask him to do it.  He just took care of business.  Just as I would have done for him or any of my friends.  Like I said - close friends...

The nephew needs to grow up and learn some of life's lessons...

I'm with Jorge, CVO visitors to south Florida are welcome to use my bikes.
Other friends have thier own rides but when does someone "need" a bike, like needing a truck or tractor?

Tell the cheap azz to rent one or buy his own, F him...

I have loaned my bikes out to my brother, my son-in-law and 1  friend. Each time I was riding one of my bikes along with them.

I can honestly say nobody has ever asked to borrow either of my bikes.

I'm not sure that's good, or bad. Just is.

All of my close friends have their own sleds, and we never ask to trade, or swap or...

Funny thing now that you mention it. I've moved my buddy's FL Springer once when he couldn't get out of work. Literally around the building I went.

I guess it's like asking to wear someone's underwear...

Consider the liability if you loan your bike. I checked with Harley insurance (Foremost). If you loan your bike with permission ( I would hope to someone with a bike license) then it is up to the claims department to honor your policy if something bad happens. No guarantee that you will be covered unless you call prior to the ride for specific coverage. A persons car insurance does not carry over to a bike since it is considered a recreational vehicle. Perhaps your coverage is different from mine but that was the answer when I just placed the call. Be careful and in my opinion don't loan the bike unless you know the rider and his/her ability very well.

Ride safe,

My husband, my mechanic, and many of you CVO folks.....certainly including YOU, Elvislee!  People who have any sense dont ask unless the circustances are dire and emergent. But I would not worry about others like the CVO folks who love their scooters as much as I love mine. And Elvislee can have free rein any time he wants.

Back in the day when you could pick up an old harley for a couple of grand this was not such a big issue but now the investment is sometimes greater than what some have in their car. Most of my friends have their own rides and we do not swap. I have a couple of friends which I have known for many years and I may consider loaning them my ride for a while but both of them have the same bike I do so there really is no purpose. I would never loan my ride to my son, I have seen him ride and that pretty much ends that discussion. I think your ride is an extension of who you are and as such deserves the same type of respect you would give any other prized possession its pretty much a don't ask so I don' have to say NO situation in my life.....................
