"Mis"-aligned spots?
« on: September 28, 2005, 03:55:48 PM »

Yes, I do ride at dark hours a lot so I am really tryingto get these lights right.  Here is the alugnment of my spots:

The left spot is directly over my low beam.  I know in VA we have some frigged up headlight rules -- maybe its that way on purpose -- will ck this Friday with my set up dealer.  Anyone else have this ?

Yeah, the spots weren't aimed worth a crap on both the Electra Glides I've owned.  Sounds/looks like your left one is really messed up, but I doubt an adjustment like that was done as part of the dealer's setup.  He probably didn't touch 'em.

If you look at page 8-34 of the shop manual, you will find that the aux lamps were adjusted the way H-D specifies.  That said, if you leave them that way they are pretty much useless for anything other than spotting animals on the shoulder of the road.  I prefer to set mine straight ahead and lower than specified so I don't blind everyone - sort of half way between fog lights and driving lights.

Good post, grc.  Wouldn't have believed that if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.  I have mine set as you do, though.  I can still see varmits in the gullies, but the road is lit up better than before, too.

I haven't tried to pick up the CVO supplement yet but there is an '06 touring manual out, I've had mine for about a month now.

All the manuals for our bike are out including the supplement.

Figured as much, guess I'll need to order one, didn't have one in stock when I picked up the regular touring manual.

I guess they are "published" but "in stock" around her at least just ain't so; 4 dealers so far have said "gotta order that for ya".  Guess I'll bite the bullet this week.  THNX, DREBBIN
