A USA horsepower is another to Europe ?

The European equivalents would be approximately 79 PS and 129 Nm.

OK, I'm probably responding to another dead thread, but the FXDFSE is advertised to produce 114 ft lbs of torque at 3500 rpm stock, so where do get the 95 ft lbs of torque and 80 hp from?

Harley publishes numbers measured at the engine. Dynojet measures at the rear wheel. Quite a difference.

Ride safely,

Just had my 09 SE Fatbob into the dealer this morning for a SE Pro Super Tuner and a Dyno.  Had the work done at Paradise HD in Portland, OR and was very happy with the professionalism of the tech.  I was allowed to be there for the whole process.  He told me the goal should be to adjust the fuel mixture for good performance and longevity, and hopefully cool it down a bit, and let the horsepower and torque numbers fall where they may.  That sounded good to me cause this thing has been burnin' my pants leg off.  As expected the engine was running a bit lean (15-16).  A target of 14 was the recommended dyno setting for both efficiency and performance.  After 5 or 6 runs he had it running just slighty rich at about 13.5 throughout most of the rpm range.  At the end he printed out the horsepower and torque curves to be 97 hp and 121 ft-lbs, which were higher than both of us expected.  He said he was going to keep my map in his program for the next one that came in.  On the way home it ran great.  Can't say I noticed a change in power but it definitely ran smoother and cooler, but then it was only about 70 today.  Pushed the dipstick button and it showed 227 degrees.  I've yet to see anything under 260.

By the way I installed Rush slip-ons with 1.75 inch baffles the night before and they sound great.  A nice deep purrrrrrr...  No other engine modifications have been made.  The tech did notice a catalytic converter in the header but I'm gonna leave it there for now as it would be a real pain to get it out.

You will be trying to get that cat converter out for a long time unless you split the pipe where the two header pipes join. I installed a PC-5 and a set of Vance and Hines double barrel exhaust on my CVO Fat Bob. I then had it dyno tuned and did not get anywhere near the hp numbers you did. The hp was 81.6 and torque of 94  . The afr was set at 13.8 through the lower RPM range and 14 higher up. The numbers you got are amazing considering you left the cat in. When looking at the cat converter i do not know how any exhaust gets through there. It is the main contributor to the heat issues with the CVO engines. My bike now runs WAY cooler and I had the dealer disarm the idle management system. These CVO 110" engines should never leave the sales floor with the stock exhaust on them . The difference in sound and performance is amazing

Now that is a VERY generous dyno!

Now that is a VERY generous dyno!

Extremely generous considering no modifications other than a set of slip-ons with the smaller quieter baffles.  I would normally expect to see no more than a 5-8% increase with just a minor muffler change and dyno tune, which would have brought the torque up to something in the neighborhood of 100-102 from the stock 95.

Lancelot, did your guy do a base run before he started adjusting anything?  That's the accepted way of doing things, and can help determine if the final numbers are just the result of a "happy" dyno or a little manipulation by someone trying to make a name for himself.  If he did, what were those base line numbers?

Sometimes it is best to leave it all Screamin' Eagle.....considering that after installing an SERT, SE Blunt Revolver (black)Slip-Ons, and adjusting the AFR, I am now at 112 ft/lbs torque and 91 HP to the rear wheel. It does however still run warm, but always will even if you remove the cats. The resale (if I ever) will also be higher since I did not bastardize it.

I also installed a Custom Brawler Solo seat and it has changed it into a different bike....I have some evil lookin' rotors goin' on next...

This bike comes with all the power a sane person will need. After 600 miles “lets see what this bike can do”. When I hit 2nd the rear tire started squealing and I felt I was about to come out of the seat, backed off, ok she’s quick!
My opinion on the pipes, put em in a box. Get rid of the cat, you’ll get rid of the heat!
