I am saddened by what has been happening because of this war. I see many of the same mistakes being made that were made during Vietnam. When will we learn to honor those who's sacrifice gives us all the rights some abuse without thought or care. Support for those who serve should not be considered support for the policies that put them in harm's way. I work for a defense contractor and see the young (I am older than the oldest Ship's Captain) men and women who serve our great nation. Each day as I do my job I try to ensure that no one of these brave people will come to harm as a result of my actions. I do not agree with this war, but I believe in our country and support the military. I restrict my "protest" to private conversations in which there is respect being shown for both sides of the discussion. I am no fan of this administration, but felt that Cindy Sheehan was out of line protesting the President's home, as were the counter demonstrator's. As a nation we need to respect the office of the President irregardless of whether or not we agree with him on everything. And along with that respect there should be an understanding of what is in the public domain and what is not. At some point since 'The Great Communicator" we lost that. No, I'm not interested in which political party was to blame for that, there is enough Spin on this subject to wear out all of our tires. I would just like for us to get back to the America of my youth. One in which we believed in the ideals of the Constitution, but understood that to practice those ideals we also had to honor them and those who defended them. "where have you gone Joe Dimagio, a nation casts it's lonely eyes on you"
