Stereo upgrade suggestions for my SERG
« on: September 06, 2009, 02:57:55 AM »

I just got back from Sturgis on my SERG (no TP) and I've decided the stock stereo just wont cut it on long rides. I'm thinking about adding an amp and  putting speakers in the saddle backs. Anyone one have some suggestions or better yet some pictures to give me some ideas? Thanks guys.

either HogTunes or Hogwired, with amp for the fairing speakers and add speakers to either the TP or get pods for lower fairings.

Lots of folks here have been satisfied w/ a hawgwired set up from member hd-dude. Contact Jim and he'll dial you in and help you w/ the install if you need it. I agree that the stock system needs help. I upgraded the speakers and an amp is next.

The Hawg Wired does sound pretty good, but it is really expensive, and you still have 5 1/4 speakers.  i am taking a more home grown approach.  I'm using an ARC Audio mini amp, and Polk Audio MM Speakers.  They are all marine rated.  I've decided to go with 6x8s up front.  A member here makes a bracket.  http://www.rideloud.com/  There are also some brackets for 6 1/2 speakers on eBay.  It will be less than $500 when I'm done.  i'd also talk to these guys http://www.loudlids.com/  They have some cool stuff, and are releasing a new 2ch amp and 6 1/2s for the RG.  I'll post some pix of my set-up when I get time to install it.

If you want the Hawg Wired direct connect, plug & play amp/speakers you can buy them thru anyone who sells Custom Chrome stuff. Jenni @ Tri-County comes to mind for 20% off. Custom Chrome became distributor for Hawg Wired earlier this year. Save $100 on the 120W amp alone.

I wouldn't suggest you cut or dill your bags. If you have to remove the bags, your gonna have to remove all of your wiring to get the bags off. And once it's cut, its cut. Can't go back. For an amp, can't beat HawgWired. I've installed a bunch and they pump. If you want go check out my site, www.rideloud.com, if you like it, drop me an e-mail and i'll give ya a 10% discount. There's no modifications, no cutting what so ever.

Good luck! :bananarock:

Just a quick question ... how much of the 6x8 is covered given the limited size of the hole in the fairing??

GOOGLE, TRI-COUNTY HARLEY (close to Cinn), I don't have her number close at hand, but that is how I got it. Be sure and tell her you are from CVO webpage and she will give you retail and your price (20%) off. The web page has her pic, Jenni (something New York sounding) last name.

Or just go here:
http://www.tri-countyharleydavidson.com/miscpage_005.asp

Sapyta is her last name, and I don't have a clue how it's pronounced.

I second, third and fouth the Hawg Wired systems.

I have personally spoke to one of the owners "Mike" and he is a great guy to deal with as well as bounce questions off of.  They even have an after hours phone number if you are doing an install and you have questions....You can call them....
This is a post I did on their page on my '97 UC. When I bough the Double Shot from them and before I bought my SE and found all this fab. info and people to get discounts from.

I now have the 4 in the face system and am just as pleased!!!!!
