How control the Volume ?
« on: December 20, 2009, 07:54:27 AM »

A buddy has a problem :
He bought and installed this radio , but he has no handcontrols at the handlebar .
He wired the AC and ground from the headlight , but nothing comes out of the speakers besides a knack when turning the ignition on .
How can he control the volume ?

Klaus, I'm not trying to be a smart azz here, that's a first, but what did he install it into?

Looks like the right hand knob must be pushed or pulled to toggle between on/off/volume and bass. I guess you've tested the speaker and the wiring already ... ?

Ride safely,

I'm 99% sure that there is no volume control on the face unless you can access the mode screen which also requires the handlebar control

A few years back I wanted to install a radio out of a 2000 Ultra in my 1996 Ultra and the dealer did not recommend it.  Claimed they were not compatable so I ditched the idea and never tried.

I would think if the speakers were hooked up properly and the radio volume and station changer worked you could do it, but I am no electrical genius.  Good luck, let us know how it goes as I would like to know if I gave up to quick.

98 to 05 would have easily interchanged.  1997 and before is a different animal.
