So does this mean that my 2001 with the M&M FI actually has better crank bearings than the later bikes with the Delphi FI?

Hogasm I feel your pain. I've been there twice with the same motor. Go to page 8 of twin cam section. And check SE 103'' blown motor. My bike did it with just a stage 1 and exhaust @ around 4,200 miles. Then I built motor up 117hp/114tq and it happened again around 4,700 miles later. Both times where covered under warranty. The dealer put it on the chitty stock bearing both times. He replaced the crank this last time with a SE Pro crank at no extra charge & I went with the timken upgrade. Now it's a 113" @ 130hp/125tq so we'll see what happens next. I was reassured that w/ timken conversion & pro crank all will be good.

Is dealer covering it under warranty? I sure hope so!

Good Luck,

Grover

That would be "Timken".
The MoCo saved $7.00 per motor by switching the bearings.
A lot of products that Timken makes is being moved to India, which they are quickly realizing is a mistake,I know Catapillar is having some quaility problems with "Timken Bearings".
I watched them (Timken) scrap about 5 million bucks worth of tooling last month, because it cost too much to ship it overseas, get this, then they bought the scrap steel back and melted it down.

They may save $7.00 on the bearings. There is a lot more labor in the assembly process with the timken bearing. It is a shame that the MOCO went in this direction.

Grover, yes the dealer is making good on the motor. To beat all the crank is also bent beyond tolerances, sooooooo  new crank on order.
