Mysterious (To Me) Deutch Connector More Pictures?????
« on: September 02, 2011, 06:32:51 PM »

Anyone,

Having removed my front fairing (2010 CVO ULTRA) to chase handle bar vibrations, trying to check fall away. I discovered a Deutch Connector hanging down, someone had wrapped a piece of electrical tape around it.

I am attaching two picture I took to see if any of you can identify its use.

Pic 1

Thanks in advance,

geezerglide

What is the color code on the wires? Hope it's not your front ABS sensor wiring!

Looks like a two wire connector, blue with white stripe plus green with white stripe.  Unfortunately, I don't have a current wiring diagram.  If someone does, it should be simple to figure out what this connector is for.

If it's the front ABS sensor it'd be obvious.  The connection on down to the front axle won't be there anymore....

I think that's supposed to go to the electronic handlebar vibration dampener  :huepfenjump3:

I have all the service manuals, but I can't tell the wire colors for sure from your pics. The only ones I saw close were the power locks.

Blue/white and green/white.

Notice anything strange about that diagram?  Why do they show two identical connections for the left saddlebag lock, with the same circuit numbers, but only one for the right saddlebag and the TP?

geezer, try separating the connector and see if the power lock feature still works.  I can't really tell from the photo what those two short wires sticking out are, but I'm starting to wonder if maybe what you have there is some sort of antenna for the power lock feature. :nixweiss:

I think that is just a typo in the manual. The RF module is not shown in that schematic, just the relay module. Agree that some better pics would be helpful.

More Pictures,

I was looking at separating the connectors, however it seems that their is no female part to the Deutch Connector, the "pins" are at just that. I can not find the mate (if there is one) to this portion. The two sets of wires come out of a wiring harness (loom).

So I am thinking as GRC advises it is part of the power lock system and that system is is working, just do not have a way to isolate or disconnect this connector or whatever you want to call to see if it disables the system.

I took off the  mounting bracket with the"barbed" which indicates it mounts into a pre drilled hole some where inside or around the front fairing. I will try to find the hole and just place back.

Where is the power lock module? I imagine some where inside the fairing?

Is their a separate service/wiring diagram for the 2010 CVO ULTRAS showing all of the options?

Thanks for all of everyone's help.
