They look like they have a beach bar like hand position.

Beach bars? Yeh maybe. But not really. Someone suggested a wheelbarrow, but that's not exactly how it is either . Guess you have to be there :P.. Some might not like hand position and I was worried that after that much work I wouldn't either. All I say is on a touring bike for me they work.

The throttle tension...you don't have the grip assembly pushed too far up on the bar?  It needs a little end play.  Just something to check.

I have the same bike and am only 5'8" with 32" sleeves (dress shirt).  How far back do the bars come compared to stock?

No, I've checked the grip it doesn't bind and it even jiggles a bit.? I don't have a clue but I like it...I don't have a before pic but there is a FLTRUSE, rio red on eBay for sale and has a shot from the back. All I can describe it is like this---slightely wider, two or more inches back, a little lower,, decidedly different hand position. I'm leaning back into the backrest instead of leaning into the bars, oh and my right wrist and shoulder no longer which I was on my old Road King after 50 mi.

Here are some really good pics of the 517's on a RG:  http://www.wild1inc.com/517tc.html

Definitely further back...my only concern is the wrist angle.
