2013 CVO Anniversary Road Glide added to the family.
« on: August 27, 2012, 01:41:10 PM »

Picked up this Saturday from Longhorn HD in Grand Prairie TX.  Dealer said it was shipped by mistake, and they should not have gotten it?  I only have crappy cel phone pictures as of now, but I will get some taken after I wash her off and get the goodies transferred from the 2011 CVO Street Glide traded in on her.
First impressions are absolutely awesome!  They put a Colckwerks screen on, but other than that, it is bone stock.  The lack of the lower fairings compared to my Street Glide has completely eliminated any heat issues.  The handling, is COMPLETELY different as well.  We took her on about a 300 mile breakin trip to our favorite twisty roads, and I feel like I am not even beginning to test the boundries of this bike.  Not at ALL what I remember with the Ultra or the Street Glide.  The stereo, it is completely amazing!  My wife said that on the SG and the Ultra, she could barely even tell what song was on most of the time.  There is NO problem with that now.  I may go with a talled Cee Baily, or Klock Werks, but the one on it now is better than any other RG I have ever ridden as far as wind protection.  Cannot wait to get the Rinehart 4 inchers on her later this week.

OK, no, that is the sissy bar off of my SG.  It is a Kuryaykyn Transformer.  It did not come with a sissy bar, or even the docking hardware.  I got rained on for about 100 of the 300 yesterday, so she is really, REALLY dirty.  I will post pics as soon as I get her all cleaned up and the pipes done.
First one huh??  That is COOL!

NICE!!!  What number is it??

ALSO, since you were on a "Bat wing" and are now riding a "Shark" what advice do you have for first timers who are making the switch??

How long did it take for you to get used to te fixed fairing?

How about turning?

Wind noise and buffeting-Is it more or less than a Bat Wing?

Regards

Jerry

19/900.  The dealer told me they had never seen one that low.  Same guy sold me my '07 Ultra and my '11 SG.

I suppose just get on it and ride it.  I don't think the RG will ever offer the wind protection that the batwing did, at least not without having something the size of a sail on the front.  I did notice in the rain yesterday, that the back of the tank was getting water splashed up onto it from the road.  This may be because of the lack of fairing lowers.  But if that is what accounts for the heat difference, I will take that all day.  There were two times yesterday when taking low speed, tight turns that I almost got object fixation on the fairing itself instead of the aoex.  Kind of freaked me out, but I will just have to learn to look out farther.

I have one on order and since you just made the switch I thought your first ride observations would be VERY RELEVENT!!

Thanks VERY MUCH!
