I've ordered a set of 16" Hiballs from Burleigh Bars. If all goes will they should be fitted by the time I get back from holidays.

Those look pretty darn good on that bike

If I needed a fairing, windshield, stereo and storage space, I would drive my car. Break out and just say no to bags.

Here's a set of carlini apes  :2vrolijk_21:

Those are huge. I'd definitely hang from those.

I removed it for now.  I ordered the CVO risers but they are on backorder and keep getting pushed back.  My back was sick of the stock bars, so I just used Fatboy risers to get the bars on for now.

I (virtually) moded sandman's 16" evil apes to 10 inches and I think this is what I will end up with. The bike looks great either way but I am more comfortable with the 10" rise.

Now time for finding out all that's needed to pull this off. One thing I don't think I need to worry about with the 10" bar is relocating the turn signals. What do you guys think?

That's my question also.  Sandman's relocation kit is my #1 choice now... but the relocation kit to the front  forks looks too much like an add on-and requires a little more rewiring so I am considering the mirrors with turn signals in them but I'm not a fan of their shape.  Also thinking about using just the turn signal stems from the V-Rod muscle, but online HD store says they won't fit the CVO BO.

You don't have to relocate the signals to do apes.  The wire for the signals goes from the hand controls into the signal.  Most just don't like the look of them after apes.
As for the "rewiring" to run them down low, that is super easy.  You just buy a plug end and connectors at the local dealer and plug the new signals in right at the neck on the right side.  There is a plug hiding there just under the gas tank.  You can get to it without removing anything.
