I have a 2005 se electra glide (103)

The stock plugs are fine.  If you want to try one heat range colder you can, but heat range isn't going to fix your detonation (ping) problem.  You will need a real tune, not just an add-on box "fueler" or Harley download.

You betcha, have it retuned but I would take it some where else not the dealer.

I hope you are running a higher octane than 89.  I had to put 89 in one time so I put just one gallon in and it really pinged on a load until I got to the next station with good fuel.

What you need to do is to first find a truly competent tuner and then ask him to diagnose and fix your problem.  Lots of people have paid dealers for a SEPST and tune, only to get back a bike with problems.  I tell people all the time to never assume a dealership actually has a fully qualified and competent tuner on staff (most don't).

I'd suggest checking around your local area for full time professional tuners and don't just go to the first local dealership you see.  Check them out as if you were planning to hire them for your business; check references and previous customers to see if they are any good.

You need to check with whomever is supplying your specs.  While Champion makes the HD branded plugs the number you supplied is the HD part number and not the RA8HC that is the closest Champion number.

The specs of the plugs are a bit different.  Take a meter and measure resistance to get one example of the difference.

Also, and far more dramatically, if you've shoe-horned SE255 cams in to a 2005 model bike you are hearing far more than just a little pinging under a load.  Your presentation is so poorly written it takes a second or a third read to make sure one understands what you're asking.  But, that notwithstanding, those cams don't fit in that engine.  So double check your specs, write it all out a little better, and try again.

1fsrtde, what the guys are saying is that a SE255 won't physically fit the engine since Harley doesn't make a version to match the 99-06 Twin Cam engines inner cam bearing size.  Perhaps the guy you bought the bike from misspoke when he told you what cam he had installed.  See if he has some documentation from the place that did the work, like a copy of a work order with the actual parts listed.

Ok, thanks Jerry!
And two lane rider... I was just trying
To give enough info so I would get
The info I need back! As far as cams,
That is what I was told. So I will go
To the place that did the work and
Find out from them!

When only working from what you're "told" without any understanding of those facts it's easy to detail things that can't work and, therefore, can't be assisted.  Try to come up with better data and try again.  Also, what are you typing on before pasting to the site?  The truncated lines and their attendant odd punctuation don't flow well for regular reading.

I got intouch with the company that preformed the upgrade to the bike, waiting on info back from that company! Will list what was done when I receive info! But I did install HD plugs& new HD battery this morning, as the interstate battery(1year old) so I was told would not keep a healthy charge! Thanks all you guys for the help and advice!

What was the reason given for the assumption that the battery would not maintain a charge?  Interstate batteries have a good reputation; including their AGM batteries.

Spark plugs are cheap so certainly an easy part to swap out when troubleshooting.  But they also don't give much problem in normal service.  Good luck sorting it all out.
