What was your best upgrade you did to your 2014 - 2016,  110 RGU CVO ? More specifically, what was the best/most significant for the money?

I'm certain opinions will vary but for me suspension upgrades come first because they make the most significant difference in the enjoyability of the bike. I went with the Progressive monotubes up front and the new Harley coilover shocks in the rear. You can spend a lot more for only slightly better.

Best bang for the buck for us has been the suspension upgrades with the Ohlins Shocks.

Comfort and handling

For me on any bike ever suspension is second.  It comes after the holy troika of (in this order)

1) Seat that feels good to my ass

2) Handlebars and shield that finish dialing the bike in to me after I know where my ass is going to be

I always do those even before suspension. If a saddle change is necessitated and it moves me up or down or front or back that will change (at least a bit) how I might have to dial in the suspension.  That's why I always do any expensive suspension changes just a little later.  it's either that or dial it in once then potentially have to do it again (and I'm lazy).

For me, on my 2015 SERGU in this order

Handlebars, hated the wrist angle of factory bars
Ohlin HD-159 rear shocks, hated air shocks.

G’day DBinSD,

The most important upgrades for me were all functional &/or safety related IMHO.

First & best thing I upgraded were the bars. The factory handlebars came off a midgets wheelbarrow. Horrible wrist angle and way too close to my fat guts to be comfortable & certainly not safe in car parks etc for low speed manoeuvring. I didn’t go with higher Barr’s as I like blood in my hands when on long rides.

Second was H-D adjustable suspension. I could not believe they put the garbage air shocks on Lucille. For me they are good as they handle well because they match the front & are not a super expensive option.

Thirdly, I had a professional tune which improved Lucille’s breathing &  performance significantly.

I also improved the lighting both front & rear. Spotlights up front because I like to be able to see the critters who are out to kill me when riding at night. I put a flasher unit on the back plus extra brake/turn signals on the bags because I want the cagers to see me if they happen to look up from their phones.

A coffee/drink holder on the back for Miss Lenda was another personal safety imperative for me.

Tune was most expensive but all were well worth it & I recommend prioritising them above any shiny bits.

Cheers Tom

best bang goes like this, 1 clear view WS, 2 fullsac pipe & map, 3 soundz speaker & amp upgrade, 4   cup holders for the mrs & I, 5 some extra lights front and rear. the rest of the bike I like .. I like the way it rides and the bars im use to, after adjusting them. plus im trying to not dump dumb money in to this one, and after the insurance check from my accident las summer and the deal I got when I bought it its like almost a free bike... I said ALMOST lol

Regardless of which bike you ride, I've said it for years and without a doubt the best upgrade/accessory I've purchased for riding is my Gerbings Heated Union Ridge Coat and G3 Gloves.

It wouldn't pertain to many on this site, but for me (living in Ontario), it allows me to ride 12 months of the year in comfort.  :2vrolijk_21:

So far suspension (shocks) are winning so to speak.

I feel handle bars are a given for those that need it. I do well with the stock ones.

I am seriously looking into the  shocks but, I also have short legs. The bike as is stock is slightly high for me so, if anyone has recommendations for great shocks that can lower the bike? I am all ears  :drummer:

Apparently these won’t fit with remote locks?

before you can get good answers to that, more information is going to be necessary.  how short is your inseam?  how much weight are we talking about (solo, 2 up, fully loaded, etc).  i can tell you what worked good for me, but i ride 100% solo, little over 200lbs, and have a 28'' inseam.

G’day Cat Eye,

Bought a set of these & they are a poor fit. Took them straight off. For me they were no good.

Cheers Tom

First I installed Factory 47 bars, then Installed cams (and lifters and a proper tune) in my 2016, then did rear shocks. The bike runs a lot stronger and I enjoy riding it...Cams were by far the best upgrade for me but I can see where others would enjoy the handling upgrades. A $40,000 Motorcycle that needs improvements added at my cost...never again H-D, never again!
