Can some show me what the new vent looks like on a 2019 cvo street glide? People said they are on all 2019 bikes and I cannot find it.

Our dealer just got some new 19’s a week ago. No vents right off the pallet. Maybe some dealers are putting them on at pdi  but not here.

Im guessing a running change on the 2020 models.

The bandaid seems to be working on my 2019 cvo limited with about 2000 miles since the install.
Let’s hope they fix the root cause, and not just the vent hose.

Fixing the root cause vs. installing a .39 cent hose.  I'm going with the hose being the fix.

Plus , Harley will sell you the hose instead of fixing it under warranty at the dealership for those in a hurry!
Win win for the company.

Anyone have a part number for the vent?
I just bought my '17 CVO Street Glide and now I'm all freaking nervous about the engine! I bought it used from the Stealership and have NO warranty. All the hose venting talk and sumping talk has me freaked out! I cannot afford to put a new motor in her at this point! DAMN

This vent hose doesn't involve engine sumping and the resulting damage, it's the band-aid Harley came up with to try to eliminate fluid transfer from the transmission to the primary.  It's just one more of the issues they created when they redesigned things for 2017.  If you want to know if you have the fluid transfer problem, just check your transmission fluid level often.  If it goes down and you don't have an external leak, you probably have lube being transferred to your primary, which will result in it being overfilled.  The vent hose doesn't fix the root cause, but it appears to eliminate the problem and that's what's important.  Have the vent hose installed if you have the problem, the part isn't TOO expensive but I'm guessing there will be about a two hour labor charge to install it at most dealerships.  Someone who has had it done as a customer paid service needs to let us know what the total cost was.

It took some digging but I think I finally found the part number for the primary vent.  Try this:

26500027  Hose Vent/Breather Primary   MSRP $48.84

Typical of the greedy folks at Harley, create a problem and then sell a part to help cover up the problem at a highly inflated price.  The hose and plastic piece probably cost them less than two bucks.

Unfortunately they don't sell the hose separately, the part number I posted is for the "kit".  They include a new primary gasket and a new derby cover seal in the kit, which most people doing this on a new bike wouldn't need.  It's absolutely no problem reusing those items once if you don't damage them during disassembly.

Anyhow, attached is the instruction sheet for the kit.

Given the cost of a primary gasket that makes the cost feel almost normal.  It was shocking thinking even Harley would charge that much just for the little injection molded hose and its drill template.

I wouldn't even get too whiny about the forced purchase of the gaskets for a new bike.  You'll need them sooner or later for regular maintenance anyway.

I had saved some info on this subject and don’t know if it’s accurate or not but I think the kit number was 94100065.
The part number for just the hose (no gaskets or o ring) 26500027
Now I’m totally confused! LOL
Maybe someone can verify?

You might want to start out by asking your dealership to do it under warranty.  It's an abnormal condition caused by things the MoCo changed, and it should be covered.  Even if you are technically beyond the two year warranty, they should still take care of it since it's a known product problem they have not fixed to this day.

I agree Jerry.  Asked the service writer and he gave me some b.s. about draining & refilling both holes and bringing it back in 5K miles!  I looked at my sales guy who by the way thought is was a recall (I new it wasn't) and informed him that I had lost 1/2  my fluid in 3k so I was suppose to grenade my tranny out of warranty to prove there is an issue?  I walked over to the parts counter & ordered a kit.

Interesting.  Is this something all M8s should have?. My dealer said they have a bulletin on this but can only get it done under warranty after 1000 miles and you jump through a lot of visits to check fluid levels by them🤪🤪🤪😳😳

Typical of H-D, create a problem, then tell customers it's normal, then create a  specification to say up to 8 ounces of transfer is normal, then require customers to make multiple trips to the dealership for BS fluid level checks, then refer back to the new "spec" that says fluid transfer of a certain amount is OK (which it most definitely is NOT).  There is a reason why I haven't bought another Harley since 2005, and this is just one example of why.

If you have fluid transfer, and you can check it yourself if you want, Harley has no real fix and it appears they have no plan to offer a real fix of the root cause of the problem, then you can fight with them or you can do what they've forced many of us to do over the past twenty or more years, fix it yourself at your own expense.  This BS is getting really old, and I can't for the life of me understand why people keep buying this companies products.

Going by for a fluid level check may not seem like a big deal when you live near a dealer, but what a PITA when it's a 150 mile round trip.

Nope. Just loan type insurance... Only had 6000 miles on it. I asked about a ONE year warranty... Didn't happen.

In other words they sold you the bike "as is", and were such poor salespeople they didn't even offer to sell you an ESP?  I hope you don't have reason in the future to have any dealings with that place.

You can buy an ESP from other places besides the dealer you bought the bike from, or even direct from the ESP companies.  I'm thinking however when you talk about warranty, what you wanted was for them to throw in a one year warranty at no charge to you.

Jerry:

Since his purchase is fairly recent, I wonder if he can avail himself of the aftermarket warranty companies that many here have used.

I tried to turn them up with the search function but came up empty.

He would then be covered for whatever happens as long as he doesn’t violate the modifications requirement.

Best regards

Hello All,
Had the vent hose installed under warranty, but had it not been, cost at my dealer would have been $459.45. They wrote up the ticket prior to acknowledging that it was a warranty item.
That’s one expensive little hose!

So fifty bucks for the kit with the hose and gaskets, about fifteen bucks for 38 ounces of primary oil, and almost four hours labor?  I rather doubt Harley is paying them anything close to that under warranty.  Yup, nothing has changed.
