We've all seen the movie with Robert Redford about Jermiah Johnson. He is buried here at Old Trail Town. He was a very big man for back in those days at 6'6" and 250 lbs. Here is his grave and his interesting story...

The livery stable built in the 1880s was pretty small. The door way for the horses to enter was only about 6' at most. I had to duck down when I walked up to it to look inside.....the horses back in the day would certainly would of had to duck down....

I rode on in to town for a quick visit and the standard stop at the Harley t-shirt shop. Got out of there....again....without buying another shirt.

With all the rain they got a couple of weeks ago coupled with all the snow melting up on top, the lake is full (approx. 8' from going over the top of the spillway and so the water releases are open and roaring full blast....

This pic shows how close the lake is from going over the top. Notice all the drift wood that has washed down with the high lake level. The guy in the visitors center said they remove all this driftwood with a crane once a year...

We brought our RV all the way across Yellowstone National Park early this morning and are currently set up at an RV park here in West Yellowstone (right outside the west entrance). We have a couple of long days planned and I will have my Nikon with me so there will be another ride report....come on along.

Great pic JC. Have made a couple trips to Yellowstone but have never been through Cody. Are all the cabins there in town or is the a separate area where they have all been moved to?

The Old Trail Town is actually on the site of Cody original town site, there in Cody. All of those buildings are not original to Cody but from the surrounding area. They are original, authentic buildings but have had new roofs put on and glass put in the windows to help preserve them.

Well, we're in Yellowstone for a few days. When we leave here we'll be headed to Flaming Gorge, Utah. From there......who knows. Like it says under my username.....just a couple of rolling stones. :nixweiss:

JC while your in the Yellowstone area if you have never taken the trip from the north entrance of Yellowstone to Livingston if is a beautiful drive or ride

Thanks a bunch for the suggestion. Yes, we rode out that way one year when we rode up to Victoria, British Columbia after we left Sturgis and it is a very nice ride as is most of the northwest.
We rode out to Roosevelt Arch (north entrance) today and then back in and around past Tower Junction. Had an elk cow walk right in front of us (maybe 15 feet) just as we were riding up the grade back in to Mammoth Hot Springs. And then between Mammoth and Tower Junction I saw a bear down in a meadow digging for something that allowed time to stop and take pics and in another 5 miles a mamma bear and three of her cubs in a grassy creek headwater. I'll get photos downloaded and posted in the next couple of days. We also saw a coyote and a wolf early this morning within half hour of entering the park but my camera was still in the tour pack at that point. Lot's of critters out this time of year.
