Title: 07 Hard bags conversion
Post by: uawman on March 21, 2012, 05:51:53 PM
I'm getting ready to purchase a 07 SERK but I just can't get past the soft bags.  Any body have a good painter for the black ice scheme on some hard bags?

Same here i highly recommend paintbygene (bigfattys) all in the same, They painted the faring, hardbags and king tour pak for my 07 SERK, Razor Red with Gold oak Leaf Flames, They matched it perfectly.

Gene just painted my 2007 SERK bags, he did an incredible job, cannot tell his work from the factory at all.  I will try to post a pic.

I just called paintbygene.
The paint job would be $800 + shipping both ways and then the cost of the bags.
I think the leather bags are starting to grow on me.  lol

It cost me $880 for the paint, $350 for the bags and about another $150 in hardware and it was the best money I have spent on my bike.  The soft bags were not for me and the bike really looks the way I wanted it to with the hard bags.

I'm thinkin, I'm thinkin...
Swap meet in 3 weeks, let's see if I can score a set of bags reasonable if so I'm going to have to pony up some $ for paint.  It does change (and match) the whole scheme.
I had a 07 FLHTCSE and never got over the leather tourpak how it just didn't fit and looked like an after thought.
Thanks guys for the peer pressure.  I think I needed this to get off the fence.

Has anybody used or have any first hand experience with Calvary Fiberglass?
They sell a complete set primed for $550.
I know you can find a used set for this price but these look extremely durable.
I know these aren't MOCO but neither is hard bags on a 07FLHRSE!

Try Jason Volanski, he did an excellent job on my bags and has great rates. He also later painted my Dead Center fairing, all a perfect match.

Those guys are close, I just called them and they can do a set of stretched bags for $700.  This saves me on shipping.
Thanks dont57

Hands down it's Bigfaty's aka Paint by Gene! He recommended the Milwaukee Baggers extended bags for me and I have had no regrets. Don't forget you'll also need the lids and hardware also!!!! We enjoy spending your money$$$$$$$$$ Good Luck!!!!

1st he was very open to my project. Then he asked if I did not have shops where I live. Next he was swamped. Heck I was driving the stuff to him as he is far from me either. So no idea.

He blew me off too.  Carried on a conversation towards doing some work then just bailed.  Don't remember who but someone here had parts with him when he bailed and was having a hell of a time getting them back.

I was going to take something down to him, too.  What can I say, I want to see the shop that's working on my stuff.  But he insisted I just mail it.  I went somewhere else ..... and that's about the time all the negative reports started showing up here.

The guy wouldn't let you avoid the risk of shipping parts?  When you're that close?  Anyone who has started hiding from his customers or potential customers is a shop to avoid.
