Fairing trim
« on: May 24, 2009, 01:43:20 PM »

that black rubber piece of crap they use for edge trim started coming off my bike. was flapping in the breeze last week. I've been contemplating doing this for some time, but this put me over the edge.
I went to several of the chain auto parts stores and looked for a chrome trim to replace with. There are several different styles. I found the one that seemed to be a good fit, at O'Reilly's.
Install was ez and I ran it a little longer on top to tuck behind my chrome windshield trim. After I put it on I ran a heat gun a low to soften up and tapped it tighter with a rubber mallet.
Put the fairing back on and Viola'!
what do you think,,,,,,,,,,,,,,like you weren't gonna tell me  :huepfenlol2: anyway

That door edge molding comes in different sizes.  Remember what thickness that was?

no I don't and already pitched the package, but it's thin. thats why I used the heat gun, to SET it.
