Title: Blackbeard in da house ...
Post by: TIF2 on November 15, 2009, 08:37:56 AM
Picked it up yesterday ... 195 miles back to the house. Unbelievable weather for this time of the year.
Found a diner in the middle of nowhere on the way back for lunch.

Burger, fries, and a shake with the SESG out front - Americana at it's finest  :)

Congratulations on your beautiful new ride!

"Nothin' could be finer than findin' a new diner while ridin' your new Street Glider!"

Take care & ride safe,
Grizzly

Where in Indiana was this diner?  I think my wife and I stopped there a few years ago.  At least it looks familiar to me.  If I recall, they make great shakes.

Congratulations TIF2 :2vrolijk_21: :pepper:

I was wondering where you picked up your Spiced Rum frum.  I know they had one in Plainfield (Westside HD) within the last few days because they called my wife so she could go have a look see.

Anyway, big congrats I was wondering when you were gonna get back with the new ride.

I'm curious about the dinner too.  It reminds me of the "Classic" Denny's they put up several years back in Evansville.  I think that one was supposed to be a kind of pilot for other stores.  The servers and staff would stop what they were doing and sing and dance along to certain songs on the juke box.

Congrats on the new SESG and my compliments on your great taste in choosing the color of your bike.  (Best one IMHO  :2vrolijk_21: )  We have a similar diner here in Fredericksburg....good choice in location to get a great pic...enjoy the new SESG.  :)

Thanks for all the sentiments ... I wish I could have spent more time setting up the shots (and more of them) but it was getting late in the day. It was GREAT here yesterday (upper 60's) but when the light gets shut-off (sun goes down) it gets dang frigid in a quick hurry.

I wound up getting my SESG at Athens H-D in Athens, Ohio. It was rather on a fluke. I had talked with Anthony back in mid-August and he said he had one coming in around the end of October. When I saw all the issues trying to get a Spiced Rum I called him back early October but this one had money on it. Figured it was a "snooze-ya-lose" deal and that was that. Found one in St. Louis and was ready to pull the trigger when Anthony called me out of the blue and said the original purchaser had fell through. Given that it was 400 miles closer (round-trip) AND he cut me a better deal it was a no brainer. Called St. Louis to give them an opportunity to match it and they wouldn't - so here we are. Anyone looking for a killer deal on any H-D (and I mean KILLER) see Anthony at Athens.

The diner is located about 70 miles west of Athens ... literally in the middle of nowhere. No town at all, just an intersection on Hwy 32. Great food - I plan on making another trip there for another meal and some shots next spring. I suppose the only thing that could make it perfect would be if it was "Willie G's Diner" instead of "Willie D's Diner" ... if it was I would have immediately bout a Lotto ticket   ;)

I know of 2 SESG in Spiced Rum:

1 at Ted's Motorcycle World - talk with Dennis
1 at Milwaukee H-D - talk with Jimmy

They were there on Firday and both were available for MSRP.
Mods are coming ... mods are DEFINITELY coming!

What kind of mods are coming?

C'mopn man ... we ALL know that mods are kept double-super-secret until the GREAT REVEAL!!
Seriously though ... nothing earth-shattering so far. Mostly usual stuff.

Pipes and TTS for sure (no brainer there)
