Some colors do fade quicker than others.  But I think most would last for several years.  At that time, just send the seat back for a recover.....no big deal.

By the way, if you go back and look at my seat (or the p-pad above) you'll see that I didn't go with the piping.  I just thought it gave a little cleaner and a little more custom look but it's something to consider, also.   It doesn't look like your drawings show any piping, either.
