5/8" hole
« on: November 08, 2009, 08:44:25 PM »

'10 SESG came with detachable passenger sissy bar and 2-point docking hardware. So, I have an extra 5/8" hole for the 4-point kit. I don't need or want the 4-point kit. So, how can I plug, cover or somehow hide this extra hole?

You can go to the hardware store and get a hole plug......chrome or black.

You can get the black one, then have it painted to match (like I did for the antenna holes on Terrie's 09 Street Glide)

Those "finger" type retention plugs will sit there and vibrate and quickly wear the paint down and thru to metal around the edge of the hole, then rust will start to run down over the paint. If you are using these on a painted surface first take needle nose pliers and make sure it fits very tight by bending the fingers for better/tighter interference fit and or wrap the fingers with some type tape to prevent metal to metal (paint) fit.  Experience here.

Thanks for the tip. I used white teflon plumbing tape. Now I have a tight fit.

Looks just like 56238-62 handlebar grip plug. Also used beginning in '68 on the FL spotlamp mount. $1.50
