2009 Road Glide CVO saddlebag extension removal?
« on: September 08, 2019, 11:43:33 PM »

Has anyone removed the saddlebag extensions off of the road glide Cvo 09 model?

Assuming its painted fully underneath the stick extensions , and also assuming that they are indeed 3m trope holding it on..

Thanks

......... why would you want to ?
.... the stripe design continues down onto the extension & would likely look like crap w/o the bottom part

that said,
...... yes, the bags are painted underneath
.... and as for attachment, the cvo bags are 'twin secured', there's tape AND mechanical attachments holding them on

I believe there are five screws in each bag.  Open the bags and check the bottom of the interior, you should find the washers and screw heads.  Once you remove them you will want to plug the holes to keep dust and water out.

I would be concerned about a little color fade after 10 years.

When I had my '09 I wondered what it would look like without the extensions... then in '10 they released the first extended bag... and then the game started.. its a perfect place for the tool roll, or other stash items.
