Buy Early,
Hope it doesn't get that bad (buying a whole "Custom Vehicle Operations" bike for scavenging). I am going to take good care of this girl, and maybe buy something else (an "un" Harley) to ride around on to keep the miles (& wear & tear down) on my Switchblade. The saddle thing bothers me... but I'll just look into a Corbin and save the one I've got. I am so glad I didn't go out and spend $30,0000 to $40,000 on a new "limited production" CVO (I had been seriously thinking about it when, after 2 years of research, I still couldn't find a "primo" FXDWG2 to replace my long lost love). What H-D doesn't tell you is that "LIMITED PRODUCTION" also means "limited availability of replacement parts" at some near future date. "Built-in" obsolescence in 10 to 12 years??? I don't think the Moco has given this any thought. They expect someone to go out and spend major $$$ on a "very special toy", and then 10 years later find that they are unable maintain it properly (replace corroded or damaged parts) because H-D didn't maintain inventory. At least with an older muscle car (or even an older p/u truck), the auto manufacturers made sure that aftermarket FEMA member manufacturers had the equipment, molds, and dies to re-manufacture identical replacement parts. H-D??? Not a chance.
I am almost certain that I just bought my last Harley. I've told my wife to slap me if I even mention any interest in buying a NEW Harley ever again. My old relic Switchblade is far better (quality wise) than some of the newer offerings from H-D (IMO) and I cannot find even one piece on it that is Chinese. ...Japanese, maybe, but Japanese manufacturing quality is far better than Chinese. Ask anybody that owns Yamaha Musical Instruments. Even Japanese motorcycles have fewer Chinese parts than H-D...Ever look at the quality of a "Star" motorcycle??? Forgive my mini-rant... I still love my American made "OBSOLETE....Relic". Just disappointed in some of the Moco's goofy decisions. These things aren't $12,000 mass produced transportation items.
FlaHeatWave,
Sent you a "PM" about the brochure thing...I think. .....NOT SO GOOD AT THIS "Confuser" STUFF.
